Porsche: Pajun news
Porsche is reportedly developing a new four-door model that will slot beneath the current Panamera. Set to launch in 2017, the new model will compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
According to Germany’s Auto Bild, Porsche has given the green light to a new four-door called the Pajun. Like the larger Panamera, the Pajun will initially be offered as a sedan, but Porsche will also sell a more cargo-friendly shooting brake version of the car.
The Pajun will ride on an all-new platform that should be ready for production by 2017. Power for the Pajun will be provided by a six-cylinder gas engine, with three different power outputs on offer – 320 horsepower, 420 horsepower and 520 horsepower. A 313 horsepower six-cylinder diesel is also said to be in the works.
The Pajun is expected to launch as a sedan in 2017 with a starting price of about $85,000. A shooting brake version will follow a year after and will likely command a slightly higher price point.
Porsche has yet to confirm that such a model is in the works, so we’ll keep an eye on this developing story.

Remember the good old days when Porsche built only sports cars......

I'm sure Porsche purists are recoiling in horror at the likes of the Panamera and Cayenne but, both are awesome first attempts at an SUV and sports sedan.
If that and the Audi A6 (which I'm assuming will be the platform) are any indication then, I have no doubt that an E-Class/5-series competitor from Porsche will be awesome as well.
Caveat: I'm not a Porsche purist so, I don't have any hangups with this plan by Porsche.

Panamara/Cayenne, they all look pretty hawt to me, especially the GTS variants.

Knowing Porsche, it'll perform well. I don't have any issue with Porsche offering super grocery-getters as long as it doesn't mess with their sports cars as well.

Yep. It's not like Porsche is neglecting their 911s.

As long as it doesn't look like a beached whale of a monstrosity that is the Panamera, I'll be okay with it.
And if they offer a true manual with it too, even better.

I detest the Porsche "SUV" as the antithesis of everything a sports car maker should make, but have no issues with the Panamera sedan.
Ferrari's 4-seaters (2+2s like the 365GT, GTC/4, 412, 456, etc.) didn't do particularly well, although only the 456 was available as a 4-door sedan.
