Pricing for NISMO...

Nissan has announced that the high-performance GT-R Nismo will start from $151,585 (including destination) when it arrives in select dealerships on July 31. In comparison, the standard GT-R commands $103,365 in "entry-level" Premium trim.
Described by the automaker as a supercar that makes "records fall and dreams come true," the Nismo version of Godzilla lives up to its billing with an upgraded twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 that produces 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. Those figures, which represent gains of 55 ponies and 36 lb-ft over the normal GT-R, are achieved by way of larger turbochargers borrowed from the GT-R GT3 race car, revised ignition timing, and retuned intake and exhaust systems.
Of note, Nissan says the GT-R's motor has more to give, but that engineers were limited by the capabilities of the car's six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The changes go far beyond the engine bay, with the suspension receiving stiffer springs and dampers - complete with new Comfort, Normal and R damper modes - and reworked anti-roll bars with a 17.3mm hollow unit at the rear. Nismo even went so far as to use additional adhesive bonding and structural seam welding to increase rigidity and make the most of the chassis mods.
A new bodykit with model-specific front and rear bumpers, unique side skirts and a sizable rear spoiler give the GT-R Nismo an additional 220 lbs. of downforce at 186 mph compared to the standard car, while specially-developed Dunlop tires wrapped around six-spoke Nismo wheels maximize traction.
As if all that weren't enough, Nissan and Nismo are also working on an as-yet-unnamed track package (not to be confused with the GT-R Track Pack) that will keep the GT-R Nismo's powertrain but feature an even more aggressive bodykit, additional chassis tweaks, and extra carbon-fiber components that are expected to shave 143 lbs. from the car's curb weight.
The results of those improvements were reportedly realized last September when former FIA GT1 champion Michael Krumm secretly piloted the track pack-equipped GT-R Nismo around the Nurburgring in a blistering 7:08.69.

There's a difference between differences of choice offered over a 2-3 year period and trying to extend the life of an aging platform by offering new "special editions".

LOL, well...arguably, you could say that about Pagani and what they did with the Zonda. But, that's a different car...

Well, I wouldn't mind a proper production halo car from Nissan to match Lexus' LFA or something.

They are probably just waiting to see if VaoprCar actually comes out and if its going to be anything close to giving the current car a run to know what they have to do for the next car

the GTR being 4 seater...NSX being a pretty much exotic...
I dont think the GTR comes in the exotic category (even if its NISMO)....
but I do agree on that the two will compared to each other...
the categories is the only reason I LOVE the best drivers car from Motortrend. They include cars from BRZ/FRS all the way up to the Aventador and compare them to one another...

^^^ no need to take it personally....neither of us are gonna own that car
I am not saying NSX is in the same category as the LFA, but definitely in the higher Porsche's and entry level Ferrari (458) and McLaren (12C)....
LFA would be more F12, Aventador category to me...
and its not only about the tech but a lot to do with the price, power, etc

I don't think NSX is qualified to be considered exotic if your requirement is based on price and power.
If anything, NSX is pretty much the same as GTR, the bang for your buck performance. Maybe NSX will look more exotic than GTR but that does not make it exotic.

I just think NSX and GTR will rock similar performances. That's why I put them under the same category.
Wasn't really thinking about "exotic" vs "non-exotic".
The GTR have shown everyone how it can hang or beat a lot of "exotic" sports cars for years.
Isn't NSX in the same category with Audi R8? Just curious what you guys think about this.

the NSX packs a lower CG, lower CD and more tech which is in line with the exotics

well not the entire team....I still feel Acura interior trumps any other car....
but yeah I agree with you...we have a very weak lineup, 2 sedans and 2 suvs...Lexus has a better line up and even though am not a huge fan of their new grilles, they seem to be doing it pretty subtly...

well I havent driven any new cars...
when I compare the 4G TL's interior, to any 2010-2012 cars, I feel it seriously is amazing....
guess I need to go do some test driving....I am fearful that it may bring out the new car itch

we were thinking of replacing the wifeys Lexus ES300 with an SUV (X3/RDX/Q5) but we didnt like the space any of them were offering and we didnt want a bigger SUV (X5/MDX/Q7), so we have decided to replace her car with a bigger sedan (E class/5 series/Genesis 5.0 Rspec/A6)....then buy an old Odyssey in couple years when we have a 2nd kid....finally a GTR to replace my 2 seater Acura TL LOL
lets see how the plan goes
