New TL Wrecked Photos

I just saw this thread on acura-tl.com and was amazed how such a beautiful car could be turned into a pile of junk in a split instant. Oh the pain

I'm not a member there so I can't see the pics. Any chance of postingthem here?

Then again do I want to see a wrecked TL?

Really?

Maybe I'm smoking something, but to me, the mirrors, the crease line, the C-pillar, and the now shortened front overhang makes the the TL look like a 3er.

I think body side mouldings would have lessened the damage!

My first impressions were that these were spy photos of next years redesigned BMW 3 series by Chris Bangle. I know he is exploring some edgy deconstruction themes lately. On further inspection of the photos, I noticed it did not have an idrive knob, so I have concluded that this was just a totaled Acura TL.

What would help this car would be the application of some gun shot decals on the rear sides of the car, which I hear is popular with some youthful "gangsta" drivers. That way, it would look more like the Cadallac used in the freeway chase in The Matrix Reloaded.

I don't think the new 3 series will look that good.

Thumbs up The silver lining...

This sucks for whoever was driving of course, but for us Acura owners, this is a good thing!

Look at the A-Pillar, it looks practically new, and aside from the cosmetic outer skin damage on the front passenger door, the door looks to be in decent shape, probably still opens. Meanwhile the front end is totaled showing off what they mean by front end crumple zone. Instead of the whole car taking the impact force, the front end gave (crumpled), it shows that the engineering is doing it's job! The driver should thank Acura for saving their life, or at the least, reducing bodily injury.

I only hope our TSX's perform as well.

Very true. The windshield's not even cracked. That's pretty good.

Define "too fast"

There is nothing wrong with driving fast. There IS something wrong with driving in an unsafe manner.

It's just like alcohol (and a lot of other things ). There's a responsible way and an irresponsible way to do it.

If you drive faster than 100mph on a public road, even if it's completely empty, that's still considered unsafe, regardless of how "safe" you drive. The slightest pothole can introduce you to a nearby tree. So yes, there is something wrong with driving fast.

It's all RELATIVE! There is a time and a place to drive fast! The fact is you have no idea how fast the driver was going, do you? If you want to go 100+ mph, fine then hit the tollroad in the middle of the night and have some fun - make sure the radar detector is ready for ACTION. This is actually "safer" then the little old lady driving 20mph slower than traffic speed anywhere / anytime - surface streets, freeways, parking lots. Bottom line: if one likes to drive fast - NOT ME ! - pick the right time and the right place.

The TL invites you to drive fast - if you don't like to drive fast, buy a different car, like a beautiful Buick. I hear they have a great rebate program these days!

Who said anything about driving over 100mph? Not me.

If you never, ever, ever drive fast then why are you here discussing what is probably a 140mph car?

BTW - Anyone know what the top speed of the TL? I assumed it is governed at some point.

Yes, slow drivers can be just as dangerous as fast drivers. Going 20mph under the speed limit can cause just as much of a problem/accident as going 20mph over the speed limit.

Of course you can post here. But, that doesn't answer the question of why you are interested in a fast car if you think it's unsafe to drive fast. Just a question. Not a flame.

What are you talking about?! I wasn't even talking about the driver of this TL, I was just responding to someone saying that driving fast and driving irresponsibly are mutually exclusive - they're not. On public roads, if you drive that fast, you are driving irresponsibly.

I'm not interested in the car, I'm just responding to what I think is incorrect.
