acura-tl seems to be the true home of idealogical rants.

Thank you. To each his own.

But, you can get hurt at 20mph as well. The speed is not the only factor that determines whether you are driving safe vs driving unsafe. I hope everyone here drives safely regardless what the speedometer says.

If you never, ever, ever drive fast then why are you here discussing what is probably a 140mph car?

BTW - Anyone know what the top speed of the TL? I assumed it is governed at some point.
Don't know yet, but if the owners manual has any indication, it might be this:

The recomended max speed to shift from 5th to 4th in SS mode is 149MPH -

I remember reading somewhere that there is an electronic limit, I think in the low 140's. I tried to find it again, but couldn't. Without an electronic limit, the top speed should be about
150.

Oh then I misunderstood you about the actual accident. Sorry about the confusion.

Now, are you saying the if I drive at 40Mph in a 50mph zone, it would be safe and responsible, right? It appears so but here is the real question: what are the road/traffic conditions? Am I zig-zagging around all the slower traffic just to get ahead? Maybe I am being totally irresponsible driving at 40mph.

Then again, I might be driving in the middle of the desert at 120 with nobody around, which in your book is something only an irresponsible punk would do but in mine, it's just having a good responsible time. BTW, I have never encountered a pot hole large enough to lose control of my car or motorcycle after 20 years of driving. I don't know where you can find such a meteoric hole in the middle of the road - and I have seen some pretty bad roads in Eastern Canada - trust me!

No offense - we just totally disagree
