On a side note, wifey test drove a loaded sapphire 2006 FX35 over the weekend and LOVED it. Looks like we've found the replacement to her '01 I30t.

Post 2009 pricing announced...

From WCF...

Starting on June 24, the all new 2009 Infiniti FX luxury crossover goes on sale in U.S. and Canadian Infiniti dealerships. Available in three different models, MSRP of the entry level FX35 rear-wheel-drive model is $49,950. The FX35 is also available with all-wheel drive for $42,350 and the top of the range FX50 with all-wheel-drive standard is $56,700.

The FX50 AWD gets a 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine with Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL) producing 390hp. For both FX35 models the same 303-horsepower 24-valve DOHC 3.5- liter V6 engine. All engines receive as standard Infiniti's new 7-speed automatic transmission featuring Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and paddle shifters made from solid magnesium.

Other assist features include Continuous Damping Control (CDC) or electronically controlled active dampeners, Rear Active Steer, Intelligent Brake Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full Speed Range), Lane Departure Warning/Lane Departure Prevention system and available Around View Monitor system plus an 11-speaker Bose audio system.

All of these individual features can make your head spin, so Infiniti has put toigether a comprehensive list of packages that wraps everthing together and a little easier to absorb. Something for everyone, they include the Technology Package, Infiniti Mobile Entertainment Package, Premium Package, Navigation Package, Deluxe Touring Package, Sport Package and 21-inch Summer Tires which are super lightweight aluminum alloy wheels designed by Enkei.

Is that a typo, or are they selling the AWD model for less than the RWD model to promote it?

must be a Typo. Infiniti is out of their mind if they price the base FX 35 at 50k.

What are the main difference in respect to the RWD/AWD models? Other than the obvious? Will the AWD put down more power?

Being AWD, it would normally put down less power because you would lose more to the drivetrain than in a RWD car.

Thanks, just found a great read:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...rticleId=43847

BTW, Do you guys think the FX will have some nice deals? I'm really eying this new FX hard. Been reading every article about it.

I'm also guessing that price is a typo upfront just from basing it on the current FX, I do remember reading motor trend article a while ago price the AWD at 42k, so I'm guessing it makes sense for the RWD to 39k.

How much would a fully loaded RWD 35 be? Probably 48-49k out the door?

Haha, I might have to go semi-loaded, but I might join the FX club! If I can somehow get a good lease deal, I guess we will see.

Millionaire Edition Announced for Europe...

From Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/02/i...clusively-for/

Kudos to Infiniti. With seemingly every special edition model being blinged-up and chrome frosted inside and out, you'd figure something called the Millionaire Edition would be the most ostentatious thing on four wheels. But Nissan's luxury division has taken an entirely more understated approach with the 2010 Infiniti FX Millionaire Edition.

Instead of chrome or gold plating, the FX Millionaire gets dark graphite trim on the exterior, including the grille, air dam, 21-inch wheels and roof rails – as well as the window surrounds, from the look of it – complementing the Obsidian Black or White Moonlight paint schemes. Inside, it's all Alcantara micro-suede with brown stitching offset by carbon fiber, plus all the advanced features from the catalog, including sat-nav, Infiniti's excellent Around View Monitor system and Bose audio.

The package is available on either the FX37 or FX50, but only in Europe, with no more than 100 examples to be built. Equipped with the 390-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8, the FX50 Millionaire Edition sells in the price-inflated UK market for a princely €95,450 – about $144k in 'merican greenbacks, or more than twice the base price for us non-millionaires. On second thought, maybe we'll save those kudos for another time. The FX Millionaire Edition is being unveiled next week, appropriately enough, at Amsterdam's Millionaire Fair.
Um...not really a fan of the name.

For such an exuberant amount of money, the result is so far from anything remotely ostentatious.

I think Infiniti got a hold of the Acura stupid Kool-Aid.

"We are going tier-one with the Millionaire edition....Everyone is going to love paying 144k for a car that is really worth less than half that price."

Crazy thing is, all 100 of them will get sold. The Russians love the FX for some reason. There is a large FX club over there.

Price drop!

Infiniti Announces U.S. Pricing on 2011 FX Performance Luxury SUV

Infiniti today announced U.S. pricing on the 2011 Infiniti FX performance luxury SUV, which is on sale now at Infiniti retailers nationwide. Prices have been reduced from 2010 levels by $2,600 USD on FX50 and $1,250 USD on FX35 models. In addition, a number of refinements have been made for the new model year, including the addition of a standard power rear liftgate*. The 2011 FX is offered in three models: FX50 AWD with 5.0-liter V8, FX35 AWD with 3.5-liter V6 and FX35 RWD with 3.5-liter V6.

The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP)** are:

Model Engine/Transmission MSRP
Infiniti FX35 RWD 3.5-liter V6 / 7-speed automatic $41,600 USD
Infiniti FX35 AWD 3.5-liter V6 / 7-speed automatic $43,050 USD
Infiniti FX50 AWD 5.0-liter V8 / 7-speed automatic $56,400 USD

As one of the most radical expressions of sport and utility prowling the streets today, FX is available with a choice of a 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) or with a 303-horsepower 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 engine. Both engines are paired with a standard 7-speed automatic transmission. The FX is also offered with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (standard on FX50).

Other enhancements for the 2011 model year include the addition of the Navigation Package content to the Premium Package on FX35 (navigation is standard on FX50) and a new Deluxe Touring Package for the FX50, featuring Maple interior accents, 21-inch wheels and tires and aluminum pedal accents. Black lacquer interior trim is now standard on FX50, and Malbec Black has been added to FX's exterior color palette.

The FX again offers an array of available advanced technology systems, including Distance Control Assist (DCA), Lane Departure Warning LDW)/Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system, Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Continuous Damping Control (CDC®), and Rear Active Steer. Other available features range from Infiniti Intelligent Key to Intelligent Cruise Control (Full Speed Range) and Around View® Monitor system.
