The current G35 MT puts out 260.
The IS is at 277 @ 4800, I'd expect something similar.

I was thinking the same thing earlier but didn't bother reading the entire post. Thanks for confirming.
Merging with G35 thread.

Where is your answer Acura?? Tell me. An unconfirmed J35 295hp 2007 TL? Pluease, that's going to get stomped on easily by the 306 hp 07 RWD/AWD G35 and the current 306 hp IS350.

Everyone (idiots at least) are quick to jump on the fact that Acura is "falling behind" without 07 versions of both vehicles having been released. And obviously the next gen version of the TL due in a year or two, will bring the guns to the battle, just like Acura did in 04.
Nonetheless, the new G is one sweet ride, inside AND out.

I'd rather be in a driver oriented car that sells in lower volume, than a higher volume car that's built for the masses.

Of course.
But the question was, what will Acura do to answer the new G? As far as they are concerned as long as they continue outselling the competition, they've done their job.
But with more people thinking like us (RWD > * ) they'll have to come up with a better answer eventually.

I'm looking at this car as potentially my next vehicle and as long as the fuel economy is improved to somewhere closer to 30mpg highway , I'd be happy.

At 306HP, this engine is already at the higher end of practical HP/l limit. Nissan always goes for the inexpensive way to get HP. When more HP is needed, they add displacement (G37), not more expensive trickery to squeeze more power out of an existing engine.
Don't expect to see DI soon - you need the deep pockets of Toyota for that.

I think the new SAE standards are playing into this. I don't think (And I wish soneone could clarify) That Infiniti's 298 was rated using the new standard. So in all likelyhood this is far more than a 6 HP increase.
