I like the mesh, but I agree, I thought "Pontiac" too. But I don't like the standard grille either.

Just saw the Genesis at the DC Auto Show.

I am thoroughly impressed with the car. It was up on a display but the exterior looked fantastic and well put-together and the interior looked very good as well.

I think this is going to do very well.

i like the mesh grille it beats the first one...i wouldn't want it standard but it wouldn't hurt as an option. and the mesh does make it look like a pontiac or a jaguar

that commercial was just well done.

what was the final saying? "think about it."?

after seeing the car for a brief second...it really does make you think about it.

Kinda sucks that they had to use the Korean model in the ads, though. At first I got all excited that they had apparently decided to go with the winged Genesis logo in the US as well, but then I saw the disclaimer... I wanna know the final specs of the US model, dammit! Especially whether or not they ever plan to add an AWD option.

I don't think AWD was ever part of the BH project.

Looks like you're right...

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...for-korea.html

The 2008 Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan is already on sale in Korea, complete with a new winged logo to mark the automaker’s foray into a new segment, as well as a choice of Hyundai’s 3.3-liter or 3.8-liter V-6 Lambda engines.

But when the export model goes on sale in the U.S., the Genesis sedan will come with a choice of V-6s, either the 264-hp 3.3 or the 290-hp 3.8, both with variable valve timing, or Hyundai’s all-new 368-hp, 4.6-liter Tau V-8 paired with a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. The sedan, on display at the Detroit auto show, goes on sale in North America this summer as a 2009 model at a starting price of less than $30,000. And while optional all-wheel drive was talked about when the concept debuted in North America, it now appears Hyundai has decided the take-rate would be too low to warrant offering it.

yes..2 v6 engines and a v8

i dont see the point of having two v6 engine options...one v6 and one v8 is good enough...especially when there's not much difference in the two v6 engines

Is the new Hyundai coupe use the same engines as Genesis? If so, I wouldn't be disappointed. And they better make that coupe look close to concept....

Seriously thinking to buy the new coupe over G37. Somehow, G37 front reminds me of Solara....

That's what they are doing... 306hp V6 (for under $30K) and a 375hp V8 ($35K)...

Since when does the 3.8 make 306? Press info showed 290/268lb/ft?

Don't tell me there's yet another 3.5-3.8L V6 that makes more power than Acura's 3.7.

No Hyundai logo on Genesis grille, supercharger may be coming in the future

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/n...-be-coming-in/

It's official. After gauging public reaction, Hyundai has decided not to slap on the automaker's swoopy "H" logo onto the Genesis sedan's front grille.

Two versions of the sedan were on display in Detroit, one with the aforementioned badge prominently placed in the center of the fascia and the other, which has been around since the introduction of the Genesis Concept, sporting the krill-grille sans logo. We're evenly divided about which looks better, but the general consensus is that the debadged front end had more of an upscale air.

Speaking with Automotive News, Hyundai's vice president of product development, John Krafic, said that Hyundai is expecting about 20-percent of buyers to opt for the 4.6-liter V8. Interestingly, Krafic said that cylinder deactivation and direct injection could be added on future models and that a supercharger could find its way under the hood to boost performance. No word on when either of these features would be added to the Genesis after it goes on sale this summer.

Disappointing that the eight isn't going to be in the coupe.

A SC in the sedan? That could be interesting.

I'm not sure where I read it, but I do know that 306 is the same HP as the IS350 (which is why the number stuck in my head).

Edit: the wiki link above has 306hp too... and how the 3.3L V6 producing 266 horsepower is only available in the Korean market.

I had hoped they would use the Korean winged logo in the US as well, but the debadged look is kinda sweet too.

FYI folks: I split the coupe stuff (at least what I found) from the existing Hyundai Genesis thread in here and created a new thread for the coupe.

If there are more posts about the coupe you notice in the Genesis Sedan thread, please do let me know! Thanks!

That's just simply not even close to what it's going to look like.

I am getting the vibe that they took a Saturn Sky, turned the Audi grill upside down, slapped a Cobalt roof on it and BLAMMO.

if Hyundai gave back everything they've taken from other car companies... there wouldn't be much left...

but with that said... I still like where they're headin'
