I guess it's safe to say that the domestics have totally abandoned open wheel racing.

Thats the only thing i dont like about the IRL now. It sucks only having 1 manufacturer in a sport.

Isn't Ford the only engine supplier for CART? CART > IRL

I vaguely remember that Honda-powered IRL entries had been winning the Indy 500 title for the past couple of years.

I do agree that having one manuf kind of takes some competition out of the sport.

Dead sport as far as manufacturers, it sounds like Honda is so wrapped up in it now that they fail to see what has happened. All it is now is drivers proving themslves, hell, sounds like nascar, yehaw.

Honda will do well only as an engine supplier in open-wheel racings. In F1, it has to handle chassis development and full-team management as well.

On September 29, 2002 at the end of the United States Grand Prix a surprise finish saw the closest margin of victory in Formula 1 history.

Michael Schumacher, who had dominated the race from the pole, slowed around the last few turns to allow his Ferrari team mate Rubens Barrichello to catch up. They cruised across the finish line side by side, with Barrichello taking the win by 0.011 of a second.

It was a controversial win in a season where Barrichello was forced to pull over and let Schumacher with the Austrian GP to allow Schumacher maximum points for the championship

True, but what seperates most IRL races from F1 races...turns! If that overtake occured on a hairpin turn (ala F1), then it would be the stuff.

The Indy race was a classic to remember, but it's one of few highlights for IRL.

IRL = Small Car version of NASCAR =
