Hey, first come first serve. If Honda can do it first, they deserve the bragging rights. Don't tell ma that Toyota, a much larger company than Honda, lacks means to R&D and fill in a slot with a given model before Honda does. If they can't do it first, it's only because they've been sitting on their asses and riding the wave.

I'm concerned because I have a 98 accord coupe that not only is on its second transmission(excluded from the 00/01 100k warranty offer) but also seems to have trouble starting due to a fuel problem.

Maybe the hickups I have been experiencing while cruising at 40-50 mph are fuel pump -related?

I don't think Toyota has yet to answer the S2K...oh right they have the MR2.

x10

It's obvious that Honda was thinking about this long before Lexus was. They're just don't open their mouths about it until they have something to show.

And AcuraFan is right about the Dualnote. That was way before any Toyota performance hybrid.

Well quite frankly, I kinda laugh at both of them marketing the "performance" of an Accord or RX 400h. These are as far from performance cars as you can get, lol.

No ONE has an answer to the S 2000. THe S 2000 is usually a winner or close 2nd in comparos. And no other car shares it's driving experience with the high revving. Truly a wonderful car.

That's a good point, but I think what the manufacturers are getting at is that they will "perform" better than the garden variety Accord/RX.

I'm still clueless as to why they haven't thought of putting the 180HP engine in there. I don't get it.

Wait a second, pal...you're not getting off that easily. You asserted that Honda stole their Hybrid direction from Toyota. And I want to know your basis for this claim. Do you have something to back it up or do you just have such a hard-on for Lexus that you honestly believe they have to be the first and best and everyone just wants to be them?

Dude, I was making a smart-ass comment about what the Lexus spokesperson said. It's not that serious. Put the gun down.
All I know is I think it is genius by both companies to use this strategy since people think hybrid=slow ugly ass car :gaylaugh:

I didn't realize this was also going to use cylinder shut off, I think that really seperates honda from the rest of the market and marketing it as a high end accord is a great idea. I just hope it has high end features other than the engine.

Me too...HIDs, more lavish interior (lid for the cupholders, for instance...). I would've liked to see a refreshed rear and front...something along the line of a formal front grille and LED taillights.

Its interesting, because while companies having been buying toyota hybrid parts, honda has remained independent with their ima, moving forward fast. It leaves room for them to actual pull ahead of toyota, while other companies get leftovers from toyota, only able to follow. The germans seem to be going their own way with diesel and hydrogen which is also a strong route.

It is simply amazing that American companies cannot think of and apply this technology. The EV-1 was a joke.

While I am looking forward to this new Accord, I would like to see a performance application on say a TSX and then TL. But that may be a next gen reality :'(

I hope they give the 2005 civic hybrid the same treatment, most powerful model yet gas consumption way up there.

Posted this over on a-tsx as well, but

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11571

Looks like 32/38 as compared to 21/30 of today's V6. Looks like the VCM gets you 8 on the top highway end and the IMA is doing at 11 MPG on the city stuff.

Also note the comment on 255HP, etc.

Are you asking if that's a high number?

Because for a car the size of an Accord, that's a really good number. Add in that it actually has some power (255hp) and I'd say that number is outstanding.

Compared to our car it's a lot more!

32MPG city means you'll get close to 500 miles on a tank all the time.

Most people who city drive the CLS are lucky to do 300ish.

2005 Honda Accord (US Version)???

Where can I find info on the charges honda is making to the 05 accord. I think I saw a post justin made months ago about the confirmed changes honda is making to their lineup but I can't seem to find anything relevant when I search for "2005 accord".

Heres a clip of the previous post.

Accord
Illuminated steering wheel controls for audio/cruise functions
Restyled alloy wheels
Side curtain airbags on ALL models
Slightly revised reverse light
Available Hybrid model

The revised rear lights may look like the hybrid rear lights. Do a search to find them.

98AccordEx - thanks for the reply. that was the info I was looking for. I have already seen the hybrids rear lights. I don't know which is worse, the current accords lights or the hybrids lights.

Actually the solid color tailights do improve the rear end look. Still looks like crap, but its an improvement on crap.

Front, Side, and Curtain Airbags are now standard on all models of the Accord. Now if only all the carmakers would do this on almost all models.
