I kinda like it. Just wish they'd drop the Accord part of the name and just call it Crosstour. Whatever.

Looks like my bike would fit nicely in there. I hate having to wrangle my bike in and out of my TSX. The opening for the rear seat after folded down is not quite big enough to easily fit my bike.

I really don't want a bike rack. They're a bit of a PITA, at least I think so. But yeah, keeping that as an option I suppose, especially if my other half comes along on a ride. We'll need space for 2 bikes if that's the case.

I know nothing about bike racks but there's a red 04/05 TSX near my place that has a roof mounted bike rack on and off every other week. So I can't imagine its that difficult to put on.

Besides, there doesn't look like there's room for 2 bikes in the CrossTour either.

It's been a few years since I last had a rack, so maybe they've come out with some that are easier to take on and off. I just don't want something I have to keep on all the time b/c I think it looks like crap. Back in college I had a roommate who had a trunk mounted rack, and she couldn't use her trunk, ever! How annoying. I at least had a roof rack so it didn't interfere with anything, but it just takes away from the clean look. Plus you can't/shouldn't go through auto car washes with them, which I do in winter.

So long story short....something easily installed and removable would work.

Looks like Honda can axe the slow-selling Element now.

^ I think that's a totally different kind of vehicle. The Accord Wagon (god forbid they call it that ) is for regular Accord buyers that want a bit more space but don't want an SUV or minivan (either for size/mileage/cost reasons).

I think Honda should do something more "hip" with the CR-V to target that Scion market. Or come up with something completely new (in the same class).

You realize the CR-V is the best selling SUV in the US don't you? Why would you possibly mess with a winning formula?

All it needs IMO are some higher HP and TQ figures for marketing if nothing else.

CR-V with small V6 would be awesome. It won't outgun a V6 Rav4 but at least the performance would be better than the current 4 cylinder.

And Honda could spruce up the exterior to make it a real looker. Projector headlights, LED taillights, etc. While the front is still controversial, from the side and the back the current CR-V is very attractive.

CRV with a turbo diesel.....not that would be a winner.

There's no such thing as a small V6. There's really only one V6 in the Honda bin - the one being whored out to the TSX, Accord and others. There's just no need for that in the CR-V. The diesel makes more sense than a V6. The same one would make sense in the Crosstour but for now I'm sure Honda will only offer the same drivetrains as the Accord sedan.

really? I didn't know that. Not that I don't see them, but it's not like seeing camery's or civics EVERYWHERE.

But shouldn't Honda come out with something in that Scion xb class? It seems like I see a lot more of those on the road than CR-V's.

I suppose this is Honda's response to the Camry based Venza, which actually looks decent in my books...

Lightbulb Teaser

It seems like automakers are getting used to the idea of using Facebook to slowly tease products before their official debut date. Honda has just dropped the first teaser for its upcoming Honda Accord Crosstour, scheduled to debut September 1.

The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour Facebook fan page has 2,336 fans at the moment that can check out teasers (images and videos) before anyone else.

Sales of the Accord Crosstour will begin in fall 2009. Power is expected to come from Honda’s 3.5i VTEC and the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbo from the RDX.

Interesting engines....4 banger turbo from the RDX and 3.5 V6. Wonder what the mpg ratings will be.

This would have been another good candidate for a diesel.

Those engine options make no sense since they are similar in output. I wouldn't put too muck stock in that report. I'd expect the 190HP 2.4 if an engine option is even available.

This car is essentially a boosted station wagon. Are all manufactures scared to bring out a station wagon?
Or they are bringing out stations wagons but afraid to call them wagons?

There’s M5 versions and E-Class AMG versions of stations wagons. Why can’t there be a Accord Wagon?

If those engine options are correct then I would definately get the turbo motor as it makes more torque, unless they tweaked the numbers. Its relatively easy to add a bit of boost to it to make some more power too.

I actually like the blacked out grill on that teaser.

My guess is that if it's a CUV versus wagon, Honda does not have to deal to much with CAFE regulations with a CUV versus a wagon......hence wagons get the shaft....thanks to the FED.

"Sigh" It would seem that Honda has given me yet another reason why going to the dealer for an oil change has become boring. Nothing great to look at on the lots anymore. It doesn't take long to look at Accord Coupes and the one or two S2000's on the lot. I am sure that it will appeal to enough people, but I do not like this at all.

Looks OK (not great but not bad). C-pillar's block alot of rear visibility. I suppose the main draw is buyers who do not want a SUV or minivan but more cargo capacity than a sedan. My wife and I got ALOT of things into her 1G Integra 5D with the rear seats folded.

If you can bear having a trailer hitch on a hitch, I'd recommend a bike rack for hitches. I can install and remove our four bike Yakima rack in a couple minutes on my wife's Pilot. Getting the bikes on/off is also a few minutes.

You can get a 1 1/4" hitch receiver versus the ungainly 2" receiver. If looks are important I can totally understand, I would not want a receiver hitch on my TL either.

Lightbulb HeadLamp

Last Friday, Honda launched a new Facebook fan page for the upcoming Honda Accord CrossTour. Along with allowing some 3,200 fans to talk about the upcoming crossover, Honda releases little teasers here and there to keep the fan page community interested.

Here is the latest teaser, following the grille we saw last week. Any guesses as to what it is (sarcasm intended)?

Honda will officially take the wraps off the new Accord CrossTour on September 1st. Sales will begin in fall 2009.

Don't like the black trim around the lower fog light. Looks like a 90's Japanese carmaker's trim-piece.

The marketing guys are just drinking too much Honda-aide. It's just a freaking CUV - nobody gives a s$it about some teaser pics. Fairly detailed pics have been on the net for a while already.

Damn thats a mis-proportioned grille. Looks like it'll take 22" with no problem.
