Has any TL buyer paid a processing fee?

I just wanted to double check to see whether anyone who has bought their TL paid a processing fee to the dealer. When we bought our new Saab 9-3 in July there was a $49 documentation fee but no processing fee. Has the $49 documentation fee been a standard fee among recent buyers?

Great, I think that the dealer is doing quite well considering that we're paying MSRP without having to add on an additional processing fee.

BTW I'm glad you didn't get one of the pre-production models. I'm still not clear on when they were produced and who has them at the moment.

I just noticed that there is a "Processing and Delivery Fee" of $399 on my order. It states "this fee includes the cost and markup of filing a lien, title preparation, DMV documentation preparation, notarization of all required documents, vehicle registration, and preparation of vehicle in excess of factory allowance." If no one else is being charged this, then I am definitely going to shop around at other dealerships in the area (and within a reasonable distance).

CTyler,
There was a $499 "processing fee" of sorts on my dealer's forms for my TSX, but he subtracted $499 from our agreed-upon price so I wasn't really charged it. No way should you pay that much excess, IMHO.

Well, I will not be paying it. Thanks!

Only $45 doc fee. Rest were taxes and licensing fees. Oh...and a whopping $5 tire fee (whatever the f that is).

Well, I spoke with the sales person and he is going to take care of the documentation fee issue. So, as things stand now, I still have a deposit on a NBP/Ebony with Navigation.

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't want that fee to get in the way of a purchase, and I bet the dealer would feel the same way.

I agree because, from what little time I have actually spent with the car, I like it...but, it's a matter of principle. And, like Peter said...we are already paying MSRP.

Well, things aren't going too good right now at the dealership that has my deposit. After requesting to get a new buyer's order with the amount reduced by the documentation fee, I hit a few snags. But, the good news is that I've gotten several quotes via e-mail from other dealerships in the area. One has already reduced the MSRP by the documentation fee. Another wants to split the documentation fee with me. And, another wants me to come in to talk with the sales manager because he is SURE we can work it out regarding the documentation fee.

UPDATE: The dealership that wanted to split the documentation fee has agreed to reduce the selling price by the entire amount of the documentation fee.

Now, it seems that my issue is deciding which dealership.

Hey, if you're at Hendrick Acura, then you might just see me. I'm currently working with your internet manager.

Kevin is a good friend of mine. We got into some trouble at the ride and drive in Atlanta together.

(make sure you remind him to stay between the cones, he'll get a kick out of that.)

CTyler,
Could you pm me with the dealers you've corresponded with? Just curious as to which you placed your deposit with. I'm up in Hickory and will probably purchase a TL in the next couple of months. So I have a drive either way, to Charlotte or Winston, Greensboro or Fletcher.

I will do. But, the one that has my deposit now probably won't have it at the end of the day.

CTyler, what do you need me to do? I know you are not dealing directly with me, but I'd hate to see you take back your deposit.

Just let me know.
