This and the X6 make me think there needs to be a change at BMW.
I absolutely love the X6. It's one of those cars that most people hate, but there's a small cult following behind it, like the Honda Element or Subaru Baja, amongst others.
I think the X6 is gorgeous, especially in M trim. To each their own!

At least the X6 has that YOLO Mc$waggerton appeal about it. The GT looks like a Pontiac Aztek spinoff.
BMW M5 30th Jahre (Anniversary) Edition.. Someone explain
So today I was browsing around autotrader & saw two BMW M5 30 Jahre Editions with asking prices between $230,000 CDN & $300,000 CDN. As I searched on google, a quick search showed that one of these cars sold for $700,000 at a Barrett Jackson Auction.
My question is, can someone explain why this car warrants this price tag??? I can't wrap my head around it, I mean it's got some special interior treatments & a horsepower bump to 600... Are people expecting this to rise in value or something?
This is the worst 5 series ever. So boring. They've completely stripped it of any emotion or drama. The past models had charisma, each had its own personality. The front, the back, all the elements gave pause and reaction. This new one is devoid of pretty much all of that, they have dumbed it down to mass consumption levels. Two thumbs down, BMW.
I also am not a big fan of the current model and feel it similarly lacks that emotion and driving experience that BMW was known for. I recently drove a 2013 M5 and the car is so damn big it doesn't even feel sporty. Anyways.
Here are some more pictures and details about the G30 5er.

After seeing more pictures, i think G30 looks better inside/out than F10.
I agree.
Definitely has the design dna of the 7 series, but more nicely implemented. Its clean and sleek. And fits in the generational line up of the 5 years...unlike the eyesore Bangle 5.

If the data below is accurate....that is one fast 6 cylinder 5 series. i can only imagine what the new 550 would be like.... if this is how fast 540 is.
From Top Auto (NL)
On regular roads (probably from the launch in Portugal).
All the readings are from the odo, but you can get the idea...
Zero to 60 mph (96km/h): 5.7 sec
Zero to 100 mph (161km/h): 14.1 sec
Zero to 130 mph (209km/h): 25.6 sec
So it means with odo error, but not being measured on a drag strip, the new car is about 1 sec faster to 60mph, 3 secs faster to 100mph, and 7 secs faster to 130mph, which is amazing!
Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 11.0 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 19.0 sec
So the new 540i is about as fast as the last gen 550i! So it means that a lighter car and better engine can do wonders in performance, and it's not even an X drive!
