Car looks great and BMW will sell absolutely every single one they can paint.....that aside the approx. 400lb weight gain is a tad crazy, but I'm sure it will be a very nice cruiser.

Do you mean the factory-installed BOV's (which serve a purpose) or aftermarket valves (which still serve a purpose, only louder)?

meh. I'm not in love with the styling and the delay. Not to mention that I'd take the GTR over this thing.

What delay? The M version of a car has always come a year or two after the regular version came out.

the E90 has been available since 05. 08 is a long time. It only took BMW a year and a half to two years to come out with the M5 (2006) after the new 5 (2004) came out.

And like I said, I think I'd prefer the GT-R. On styling alone the GT-R is better More rumored hp, AWD, and should be a monster around the track.

^ The GTR competes with the 911 Turbo level of performance. It's not a direct competitor to the next M3. I am also expecting it to cost more than the next M3.

Wow do you actually think this is representative of the production version? It shouldn't take more than 4 exaust pipes pointed at the ground on an //M to tell you "NO"

superior luxury name brand, i would have to agree. but the RL has a majority of them beat, but people in that market see MB vs. Acura, they just hear the name. it's hard to argue the MB E class, that thing is just a winner.

personally i like lexus, and i'm looking for a 4 door AWD in the coming years, and i like the GS over any of the acura stuff right now.

i just have known alot of bmw owners, especially the M3, and i can't tell you how many complaints i've heard, this goes without saying, but not a single one owns a bmw anymore. i also won't deny the new M5/M6 are both MONSTER cars. but for the cost, i would put 100G on something a little more 'name brand' than bmw if you know what i mean ;]

$53? that's it! yea I'd say that's false.

$53,000 base could be fairly close (probably going to be $55-56)

Post M3 convertible...?

From Leftlanenews...

Recent media reports have suggested BMW would not offer a convertible version of its next-generation M3 because the M division was not satisfied with the 2007 3-Series Convertible as a basis for the car. According to the reports, engineers felt the folding metal roof would make the car too top-heavy to be worthy of an M badge.

While there has been no confirmation one way or the other, spy photographers have snapped what appear to be photos of a 2009 BMW M3 Convertible prototype. The quad exhaust pipes, hood bulge, and new front and rear fascias make it painfully obvious that this is an M3. Our conclusion? The E93 M3 is most certainly a go.

Wow. Considering that Shiv's Xede-only 335's (no other mods) are getting 340+ hp and 370+ tq at the wheels on 93 octane, that's a low number. How much lighter is the ///M going to be?

Dunno, my friend traded his loaded M3 vert in on a M3 hardtop.

When I had my Boxster I had days that I wished it was a hardtop.

These are numbers at the crank. The numbers at the wheel are very high 290s for both HP and torque.

Agreed...and if you look at that pricing sheet its actually ~$54k.

2006 base MSRP is only ~$48 and change everyone should remember...despite the fact the new one will have V8 power, I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they were to raise the base MSRP any more than $5-6k

Not sure how I feel about the V8 either. I would have been warmer on the car if it was getting an evolution of the I-6 (more power/dispacement). The V8 engine and proposed pricing will put this M3 in the middle of some pretty nasty competition.

Huh. How do you not see this car already in nasty competition. All the competitors are already rolling V8s.

Lets see:

Lexus IS500 F
Audi RS4
Cadillac CTS-V
Benz C55 AMG
