I've had a B8 as a loaner a few times now and I gotta say that while I like the exterior of the B8 more than the B7 that I own, the quality of the materials for the interior don't feel as good as the quality of the materials in my B7. The buttons feel cheap and flimsy and the accent trims feel too plasticky IMO.

Just like VW lowered the quality of the materials on the Jetta, I think Audi is starting to do the same with the B8. Just my

That's really disheartening to hear. Audi has had the best interior (both design and materials) for the past probably decade or so. Such a shame they're now content on lowering quality. Hopefully they'll be like MB and realize their mistake before it's too late.

I have a B8 Avant S-Line and I find the material quality excellent, I have not seen another car that has better materials and most are considerably worse (BMW especially). I sit in Audis regularly at the dealership and the higher-end models are similar quality but substitute more "real" materials as you go up in price, adding more real wood, aluminum and chrome bits. The mid-cycle refreshes from BMW and Mercedes are just now catching up to my 2010 and they're still not quite there. I haven't sat in a B7 so I can't say if it was even better before. I do know that the best dash material I've yet to see (other than fancy stuff like leather or alcantara) is the plastic on the A3, it has this awesome super fine-grained matte texture to it that I haven't seen in any other car. The side-view mirror switch on the B8 does feel flimsy though, but that's about the only bad part.

It's hard to judge quality by a loaner car too, they're usually kind of dirty. I clean my car regularly and it looks a lot upper-class than the Audi loaners, but that's also because of the S-Line package (a must on an Audi).

It's Europe, so you can get it with pretty much any engine and transmission. I think this guy has a manual 2.0TDI.

Guys how is the reliability on a 2010 S4? I have always liked the S4 but have been afraid to buy one because I heard that they are unreliable and I buy used and don't want it to break down. But is the 2010 and newer S4 still unreliable or is it a big improvement over the V8 version?

Some tidbits from here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...4-avant-nogaro

It was 20 years ago that Audi’s first RS model hit the scene, the legendary RS 2 Avant. The car was a high-performance version of Audi’s 80 Avant wagon, the predecessor to the A4 Avant, and it would set the tone for a string of new RS models to be launched over the next two decades--combine high performance with everyday usability.
Audi is now celebrating the 20th anniversary of the RS 2 Avant with a special edition RS 4 Avant Nogaro selection, which is set to debut next month at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Like the RS 2, the new RS 4 special edition comes in an exclusive Nogaro blue paint finish, recalling the two victories achieved by Frank Biela on the Nogaro circuit in the French Touring Car Championship of 1993.

Unlike the RS 2, which came with a 315-horsepower turbocharged 2.2-liter five-cylinder, the RS 4 Avant Nogaro selection benefits from the regular RS 4’s naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V-8. This engine develops 450 horsepower at a lofty 8,250 rpm and peak torque of 317 pound-feet between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. Matched to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive system, it delivers a 0-62 mph time of 4.7 seconds. Top speed is a governed 174 mph. By comparison, the original RS 2 would sprint to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 163 mph--simply incredible figures for 1994, the year of its launch.

In addition to its special blue paint, the RS 4 Avant Nogaro selection gets glossy black detailing on the grille, window slots and exhaust tips. Matte black, meanwhile, is used for the roof rails. Inside, the car gets a black and blue design with the black surfaces coming mostly in Valcona leather and the blue in Alcantara. Blue threads run through the carbon inlays to lend them a very special shimmer and a special badge is fitted to the top of the gear lever.

Standard equipment includes the Audi drive select dynamic driving system, 20-inch wheels and red-painted brake calipers. Some options worth ticking are the MMI interface, the sport differential for the rear axle, carbon ceramic brakes, and RS sports suspension.

Since the latest RS 4 isn’t offered in the U.S., the new RS 4 Avant Nogaro selection will have to remain forbidden fruit. For those readers in markets where the RS 4 is sold, the new special edition goes on sale straight after its Geneva debut. Pricing is set at 87,300 euros (approximately $118,000).

If it was sold here, I would imagine it would be about $80K. Slightly more than a RS5.

The RS4 is so sexy, especially in blue. But too bad, it's not offered in the U.S., and no MT!!!

How difficult is it to import this car...? I mean, German pickups are available, right? So, what's stopping someone from building it in Germany, picking it up, and driving it back to NA...?

No. It would need to be homoligated for U.S. sale. That would include a complete battery of safety tests.

Stupidity...a car built off of the A4 class...which is allowed in NA, needs to go through all of that...?

How much is that battery of tests? We talkin' thousands upon thousands? Cuz, if you're spending $80K for a lovely car, a couple grand here and there is not a huge deal.

An individual can't do it. It has to be the manufacturer. I believe they'd need to submit three cars (IIRC) to the government for crash testing, as well as a host of other tests.

Here's a discussion of the cost for Lotus: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...n-really-cost/

It ain't cheap.

The United States need to get with the EU and come up with one emissions standard and one crash test standard so we can stop this nonsense.

So, don't say I don't care.

The RS4 in europe was different than the RS4 in the states. Seats were different per safety standards. Which is why many people jumped on used euro seats.

Nogaro Blue is one of my favorite colors on a car, ever.

While I do love Avants, I prefer sedans over wagons in general. But two exceptions have always been the RS6 Avant and now that RS4 Avant

There's a small body of water between Germany and NA which is stopping a few people from just driving one over.

*gasp* I actually agree with ME-TEASEY.

It is a little over the top. But it's equivalent to "pointy elbows" on a woman who's 9/10.

Of course the rest of the car is awesome. But the last time I liked that interior color scheme was on the B5 S4 when I was 16 years old.

If I put those seats in an ABP CL everyone here would be hating.

It's an Audi thing going back to the B5. Objectively, not a fan but that is classic Audi.
