A 6 speed auto is great for Honda, but old news for other Mfg.

How about one of Honda's fantastic manual gearboxes?
How about a 7 speed auto box?
How about a 7 speed Dual Clutch gear box?

Hmmm. I thought the Q5 competed with the RDX, X3, XC 60. So are those cuv's too or just small suv's?

You are going OJ on a concept and spy pics to call a car suckage...?

I'm reserving judgment until it is released, dude. If I'm planning on dropping $50-$70K on my next ride, I should give all cars in that range a shot, no...? How is that stupid on my part...?

First of all I was kidding. Thought you had me figured by now, guess not.

Second of all, the concept was 98% done, so we know what it will look like. Personally I'm not a fan but if you like it that's all that matters.

And lastly, I'm not a fan of useless, image only vehicles like this and the X6, but to each their own.

Wasn't sure if that was intended or not...besides, I thought our jabs were only relegated to hockey and TF threads.

But, I have no clue how CUVs are...just that they seem the right size overall to what I would like (not too big) and are sporty enough still to have qualities of a car. That being said, never drove one.

Unless they buy gearboxes from transmission companies like most, if not all manufacturers do, I don't really see how they will excel in that area.

The J series went from one of the best to being only competitive. It holds its own in terms of NVH, fuel economy (real world, not EPA), and MEP, but lacks peak power.

Lightbulb TOV Update

Date: July 20, 2009 14:00
Submitted by: Jeff
Source: Acura PR
Credibility Rating: Not Specified

TORRANCE, Calif. - 07/20/2009

The all-new provocative 2010 ZDX four-door sports coupe will arrive at Acura dealerships with dramatic styling, outstanding performance and the latest in advanced technology. The segment bending ZDX features stunning coupe-like styling with the added benefit of a commanding presence and flexible utility. Staying true to the prototype model that debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show in April, the production ZDX will feature the key design highlights of a panoramic glass roof, hidden rear door handles and bold fender flares.

Along with head-turning styling, the ZDX will boast outstanding performance from its 3.7-liter V-6 engine mated to an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 all-aluminum engine will generate 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque for immediate acceleration response, outstanding low- and mid-range torque and superior high-rpm power. The 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters gives the ZDX excellent acceleration while also enhancing fuel economy. Standard on the ZDX is Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system. The SH-AWD® system expands the ZDX's appeal by providing outstanding handling as well as superior all-season capability. Standard on the ZDX are 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels; the largest standard wheel in the Acura lineup.

Inside, the ZDX exhibits the highest levels of refinement and sophistication. Every ZDX interior will feature a hand-stitched leather dash, panels and sculpted center console. The rich leather appointments give the ZDX a warm and inviting feeling while creating an intimate cockpit for the driver and passenger.

The ZDX's flexible utility enables customers to have great utility coupled with sleek styling. The ZDX can seat up to five adults while maintaining a generous amount of cargo space behind the second row of seats. The cargo area can also be expanded to accommodate longer objects, such as golf bags, by removing side panels in the cargo-compartment sidewalls. As an added bonus, there is an integrated under-floor storage area.

When the ZDX goes on sale this winter, customers will have the choice of three distinct trim levels: ZDX, ZDX with Technology Package and the ultra premium, ZDX with Advance Package. Like all Acura models, the ZDX will come generously equipped from the start. The panoramic glass roof with moveable sunshades, hand-stitched leather interior, HandsFreeLink™ Bluetooth® connectivity, power tailgate, and a high powered audio system with CD player, AM/FM/XM radio and USB audio interface with iPod® integration are all standard features.

The ZDX with Technology Package adds several features including a Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, an Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system and a new multi-view rear camera. The Advance Package boasts additional customer enhancing technologies like a blind spot information system, a Collision Mitigating Braking System™ (CMBS™), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

When the ZDX goes on-sale, it will bring a new level of prestige to the Acura lineup. The ZDX will be priced and positioned between the MDX luxury SUV and the RL luxury sedan. Pricing and additional details will be released at a later date.

Sounds promising.... However I doubt sales volume will be that high. Anyone know what the target is per year for ZDX?

I'm happy they went with the hand stitched dash as opposed to the 4G TL dash.

I'm sure more details will follow... from someone other then Acura's PR department... and hopefully more pictures...

Not sure of where the marketing advantage is. Why call it something it isn't. Just market it as a 5 door CUV. Nothing shameful about that.

I think there are some who will fall for it and buy it partly because its says Coupe. Others will buy it solely because they like and won't care how is classified or marketed. So it may be a win, win.

When the ZDX goes on-sale, it will bring a new level of prestige to the Acura lineup.
I thought they were going after sales more than prestige.

If Acura wanted prestige they'd actually launch the NSX successor instead of this X6 me-too vehicle.

If they wanted more prestige, they'd offer RWD and V8 vehicles and not concentrate on hybrids while dropping the FR platform and V8 programs.

Arrow Coupe Name

My guess is that bc they already have 2 CUVs, they are calling this a coupe bc they currently have none in their stable. Just a marketing ploy ...

Anyhoo, here are some pix:

It's still amazes me that they can get in the interior so right but the exterior so wrong. This is approaching Aztec territory.

if there are no rear doors what is up with the line going down where a door gap would be? it looks like it is supposed to have four doors but forgot door handles...

It is 4 doors....the handles are up higher. I don't care for that.

I honestly liked the prototype, but I'm not sold on the production version. Maybe better in black?

I fear the ZDX looks good compared to the Crosstour. As least from what we've seen so far IMO.

The interior is nice, but it's a patchwork of quality. There's leather stitching with real aluminum, and then there's that gunmetal look of the plastic aluminum on the steering wheel. And the gradient of black/blue on the leather dashboard is distracting.

No comment on the exterior

About the only thing I'd buy off that thing are the 19" rims for my Odyssey. . . The cutlines from the doors across the roof make it look like it was glue'd together out of 4 pieces. I'll of course hold more judgement until I see it in person.

That looks terrible. WTF is going on with the rear window? Can they add anymore vertical lines? Wow.

I'll have to pass on the exterior. Interior is decent, looks like typical Acura, can't do wrong. However the exterior...Acura...what are they thinking?

that looks awful. Acura has by far the worst styling right now across almost all of their cars. I really only like the TSX now

If they put the MDX grille on this...it would look much better, IMO. After a ~year of seeing that pp grille, I thought it may grow on me. I still can't stomach it. With a new grille, this will look better than the X6.

I think the grille is the least of its problems.

this might actually break RL's sales records as probably selling 100 ZDX's a month.

wtf Acura?

this car looks great on the moon or on mars, but not on earth. reminds me of a lunar buggy.

If Acura ever stops being fuck tards and rebirths the CL or Integra with 300 hp and a SH AWD platoform they'll win. (Also kills the "beak")
