I don't like much my current car's grille, reminiscent of infamous so-2009 Acura' beak., I like it square, and design-wise, it is just more inline with the gen 3 or TSX 1. The front-end reminds me the stance of Audi A6 2012+. Only the logo is too huge, but an improvement overall.

Sorry, but in no way is that an improvement (and actually made things go from bad to worse - the toned down beak was at least tolerable).

Acura designers should look back to the 3G TL as inspiration (still looks good today).

As for the Stinger, would definitely lose the hood vents and would also reshape the headlights (make the shape more linear) , but the rest is more than fine.

Not like anything else in the rest of the segment looks particularly good (the best of the lot probably being the XE, which has its own issues).

Refreshed 2018 Acura TLX to Make World Debut on April 11: Bringing Precision Crafted Performance Design Language to Acura Sedan Lineup

Mar 28, 2017 - LOS ANGELES

Acura will unveil the refreshed and significantly enhanced 2018 TLX performance sedan in New York on April 11. The 2018 TLX will boast a more aggressive, sporty and alluring look inspired by the Acura Precision Concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in 2016, a design direction that already has successfully influenced the styling of the 2017 Acura MDX. The TLX refresh also includes new premium features and technology enhancements that place the TLX among the most technologically advanced and well-equipped cars in its segment. Watch the 2018 Acura TLX reveal live on April 11 at 4:45 p.m. ET at acura.us/2018TLXDebut.

"The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura's focus on Precision Crafted Performance,"said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager. "Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we're pumped to show how we're elevating the TLX experience."

The 2018 TLX 5-passenger performance sedan was designed by the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, Calif. and will continue to be produced at the company's Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio with domestic and globally sourced parts. For More

The new front fascia in that teaser is an improvement, but still not attractive, imo.

Personally, I think the TLX looks pretty nice in that photo... but you can't see the whole thing, which might be deceiving.

I think it looks better than the initial spy shots we saw. Here's to hoping it looks good all around.

Other than the front grille, i personally have no issue with the way the facelift TLX looks... But is it too little too late?

The car will likely have more wheel gap than that photo lets on. & the powertrain does not say "Precision Crafted Performance"

I just don't see how Acura couldn't scale the grill down to line up better with the headlights. That front end would look 'decen't with a smaller sized grill.

Exclamation Long Wheel Base

Long-wheelbase Acura TLX to debut at 2017 Shanghai auto show

Long-wheelbase Acura TLX to debut at 2017 Shanghai auto show

The Acura TLX is getting a revised look and some new tech features for the 2018 model year.

The updated sedan will be unveiled in a week at the 2017 New York auto show. A week after the debut in the Big Apple, Acura will unveil a stretched version at the 2017 Shanghai auto show.

The stretched TLX will be sold exclusively in China where there is big demand for executive sedans with extra legroom in the rear. This is because many executives in China get around busy urban areas with the help of a chauffeur.

Most of the TLX’s rivals offer a long-wheelbase option in China. And even some cars you don’t expect to be chauffeur driven, such as the BMW X1, offer a long-wheelbase option in the country.

The Shanghai auto show opens its doors on April 19. For more coverage, head to
our dedicated hub.

Unless the TLX is locally built, no one in China is going to buy one. A well equipped 3 series is a lot cheaper than the TLX there.

Sooooooo they will stick the R&D and money into something like that but not give us stuff to compete with the brands here they want to compete with???

Why a stretched TLX over a stretched RLX/Legend as an executive sedan?

Price.... Not a lot of people, especially in China would pay for RLX, let alone a stretched RLX.

Price is the biggest reason why Acura sells less than 10k cars in China annually.

Some examples of the extreme pricing due to import tax and displacement tax there:

TLX 390k yuan
MDX 740k
RLX 860k hybird 1.1 million
NSX 2.9 million

In comparison:

330i MSport 450k
528i xdrive 690k (import)
A6L 3.0T 660k
R8 V10 PLUS 2.5 Million (cheaper than NSX)
Panamera long wheelbase 3.0T 1.25 million
C300L 490k

German big 3 all have multiple assembly lines for the entry market there.

CDX is the lone locally built Acura product, and it's the best seller for the brand by a country mile.

I'd imagine Honda will build more factories in China. At those prices, I doubt anyone is gonan buy them instead of the German brands.

Have you seen the new Regal? I would rather have that over any Acuras save for NSX.

They look really nice. It's the materials inside that are the problem. They're like three steps down from Cadillac.

Yup...they look decent outside, but it's an Opel. It has the necessary ingredients (ie. look good on paper): twinster, adaptive dampers, multi-link suspension, turbo engines. But the result is less than the sum of the components.

2018 TLX Commercial (leaked ahead of reveal)

I think this got leaked on accident (ahead of the nyias reveal)... looks like it was posted on the 7th via a private posting.

No comment on the looks... but.. the red seats are a nice addition and it looks like there's android auto (if you pause around the 0:16 mark)

would it kill Acura to make something pleasing? Those headlights don't fit the grille at all.

They are doing anything they could to tell you NSX and the rest of the Acuras are related.

I'm still secretly hoping it's because the TLX will have the sport hybrid option!

I don't mind the headlights. Looks like they're cramming a whole lot into them, though. But they're not bad. Still not sure what to think of the new front end. I'm sure I'll see it at the car show here, soon enough.

give yourself 3 to 6 months of seeing pictures, Azine posts, commercials and in person at the dealer and in motion to really take a pulse on how the new grill and back end make you feel. We will all have an immediate reaction, but its about how we feel after a few months of it.

+1 and see it in person too. Acura's tend not to be the most photogenic cars and look much better in person.
