Most Honda, Acura models to get higher sticker prices
Most Honda, Acura models to get higher sticker prices - - DALE JEWETT | Automotive News - - Source: Autoweek
Blaming higher costs for raw materials and the effects of currency exchange rates, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. is tacking $100 to $200 on to the sticker prices of most of the vehicles in the Honda and Acura lineups.
Honda says the hikes will raise vehicle prices an average of $150, or 0.58 percent, on a sales weighted basis.
The increase applies to vehicles assigned for dealer delivery after Feb. 13.
At Honda, prices of Civics were raised $100, except for the Civic LX SE, which remains unchanged.
Accords with four-cylinder engines had $100 added to the sticker. Accords with V-6 engines now cost $150 more.
Prices increased $200 of the Pilot and CR-V sport-utilities and Odyssey minivans. Honda did not raise prices on the Element SUV or Insight hybrid vehicle.
Acura increased the price of the RSX by $100, and boosted stickers on the TL, TSX and RL cars and MDX sport-utility by $200. The price of the NS-X sports car did not change.

I hope the best for Acura. I think Toyota Motor Co. is just as focused on Lexus as Toyota. Where as Acura gets put on the back burner for Honda. If the focused on Acura were equal to Honda, then I think Acura would be more of a threat in the luxury brand industry. Just my

Honda/Acura vehicles will carry crash test ratings going forward
Honda volunteers stars on its cars - - By Harry Stoffer - - Source: Automotive News
WASHINGTON -- Beginning this year, each new Honda and Acura vehicle will have a window sticker that shows how it performed in government crash tests, American Honda Motor Co. said Tuesday.
The company is volunteering to post the safety ratings along with required price and fuel economy information. Honda calls the move a safety benefit for consumers. Vehicles get one to five stars for how well they protect crash dummies in front and side impacts and for how well they resist rolling over.
The announcement was made Tuesday morning on Capitol Hill by John Mendel, Honda's senior vice president for automobile operations. He was joined by Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, sponsor of legislation that requires the posting of the safety ratings on vehicle windows.
The provision, known as Stars on Cars, is part of the Senate-passed version of a major, multiyear highway bill.
House and Senate negotiators are working on resolving differences between versions of the legislation so that a final bill can be sent to the White House, possibly this week.
A knowledgeable Honda official said the voluntary program will start with all 2006 cars and trucks and some of the last 2005 vehicles that are assembled.

I think it's a good idea...
it's a good way to show off one of their good qualities.
maybe it will get some ppl thinking about the other deathtraps flying around the road and realize that safety is important.
It's a good idea IMO and if every manufacturer did it, and people actually understood what everything means, then I think some people would think twice before shelling out some cash on a piece of crap. Of course if that was the case, you'd have some salesman trying to sell a colbalt telling the customer that the safety rating is like golf--you wan;t a lower score/number of stars
but good move Honda (again)

I think Honda is very competitive with Volvo when it comes to safety, but Volvo holds the better perception. I think most people still falsely perceive Volvo and other Euro brands as being safer than any Japanese brand.

Infiniti is going to China in 06 as well.
But I guess they have to market them as "American" brands sicne nobody in China give a damn about Japanese product anymore.

Interesting. Could this be because of the strengthening of the yuan?
Hopefully, this will put a dent in the Audi A6 market in China, as I'd expect Honda to import the TL and RL first.

Yeah, it's probably safer to drive one of those Hyundai "taxicab" Elantras.
It's perfectly safe to drive an Accord in China.

But right now RSX is the only Acura model remaining in HK. There is no RL or Legend available in the HK market unless you import it from Japan, let alone the North American models like EL and TL.
If they are going to launch in China they may bring back some of the models back to HK.
