It's just some rumor from an insider over at TOV. He seems to knows his stuff most of the time.
Probably not that much power, but there's supposedly a FR or MR sports car coming out for $50k+ with the 2.0T. One version of that could be Sport Hybrid. In other words, there could be a base model with 280hp 2.0T, and one version with the 2.0T + Sport hybrid with about 350hp.

Does anyone here remember the Legend coupe? That car still turns heads. They might not sell a ton of 2-door RLXs, but the non-recurring engineering to create one shouldn't be too huge and it would at least offer a car with a little excitement in the current line-up.
Look.... you do not want a RLX... actually you can't even compare RLX with Legend.... Legend was a car that was ahead of its time, RLX is a car behind its time.
Acura needs the CLX (TLX's 2 door version)... But if all Acura is going to do is chop 2 doors off of TLX and call it a CLX, well then don't even start.

The Legend Coupe looks good because it has a classic long hood luxury GT coupe proportion with an excellent dash to axle ratio, thanks to its longitudinal platform. Honda doesn't have a longitudinal platform right now, if they are forced to create a coupe based on the existing platforms, it would look just like another CL, Accord coupe, C70 or Altima coupe.
I still stare at a good condition Legend coupe when I see one. Fucking sexy car.
The only bad thing about that car is the body would rust away before everything else failed. Seriously, if you could just replace the body, the car would go on forever, I'm sure of it.

50K per year? Acura expects to sell almost 3,000 more TLX's than they did during its best year (2015 = 47,080)?
I'm sure it will help revive sales and interest a bit, but has there ever been any MMC from Acura that has sold more than the FMC? The trend has always been lower, I think.

True, but this is also a more extensive MMC than usual - one that fixed many problems and much closer to what the original TLX concept was supposed to be. It also comes down to what kind of incentives Acura will be offering.
With that said, sedans sales are heading down for most manufacturers....

Here are the sales figures of the TL:
1999 56,566
2000 67,033
2001 69,484
2002 60,764
2003 56,770
The difference though is that the 2G TL was a hugely successful model when it first came out. The MMC basically just changed the look slightly and added a Type S model.

Haha, yup crazy numbers until you look at the 3G TL:
2004 77,895
2005 78,218
2006 71,348
2007 58,545
2008 46,766
With that said, you can clearly see the decline in sales as the 3G was aging, and when the economic downturn hit, and when other manufacturers came out with new models.

and that is without the # of the 2 door version.
Will Acura begin counting to their 50K goal starting from the on sale date for the MMC TLX which is June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018, or will it be for sales from Jan 2018 - Dec 2018?
If they use the 12 months from the MMC TLX's on sale date (June 1, 2017), the goal to sell more MMC's vs FMC's would be easier to meet or beat.
Jan 2015 - Dec 2015 = 47,080
Jan 2016 - Dec 2016 = 37,156
But . . .
Jun 2015 - May 2016 = 44,995
Jun 2016 - May 2017 = 36,945
Or will they be comparing sales from Sept. 2017 - Aug 2018 vs the FMC TLX's 1st full 12 months of being on sale (Sept. 2014 - Aug 2015)?
Sept 2014 - Aug 2015 = 46,896
Sept 2015 - Aug 2016 = 42,657
I think they could sell more MMC's from Jun 2017 - May 2018 vs the 36,945 they sold from Jun 2016 - May 2017, and if they do, Acura can brag about how great the MMC is in their press release since it reversed the Jun 2016 - May 2017 sales decline.

Based on the way they present their previous sales number, they will use whatever set of number that will get them to 50k units....
Something like we have reached 50k annual sales target except we are only short by 10k.

Yes it would. But all you get is a Aspec that does not do much... Even summer tires are not part of it.
The whole Aspec is probably worse than BMW's M sport.
Do you have a list of everything that is included with the ASpec?

Judging by how many BMW with red interior (including mine
) there are a lot more people who want to have the "non-traditional" color of seat than what Acura thinks. and they are willing to pay for it.

LOL that is definitely a good starting point. having more options than just the typical black, tan and brown is always good.

I think stock brakes. They look tiny with those 19" rims.
I guess i forgot to mention superman is my favorite DC character.

That is weak... didn't the 3G Aspec come with Brembo? or was it Type S?
Whatever it was... Acura should have included upgraded brake with Aspec since pretty much M sport, F sport, AMG, Infiniti all have brembo or something similar...

I think only the 3G 6MT A-spec had the brembo. Or may be all 6MT models had brembos? I forgot.
Type S had brembos I think.
F Sport (~$3k depending on which IS model):
Lexus IS models with optional F SPORT packages assert their presence with a series of bold exterior features, including an exclusive F-mesh grille pattern that incorporates functional brake ducts, enhancing both aerodynamic performance and aggressive outlook. Adding to the dynamic flair, unique 18” F SPORT Wheels, Power Moonroof, and F SPORT -exclusive colours including Ultra White, Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Obsidian.
M Sport for 3 series ($3k)
Rims
M Sport suspension
Aero kit
M steering wheel
exterior trims
Adaptive M suspension ($700 more)
If you want upgraded brakes, you need to get the "Track Handling Package" for another $2300.

^ 3 and 4 series 6 cylinder M sport package comes with M sport brake (4 piston brembo in silver with larger rotors than standard) It used Euro Brake pads that results in huge amount of brake dust
M performance brake has even larger rotor and they are drilled. Also with colored caliper.
4 cylinder M sport package comes with the non brembo looking calipers... i don't know why.

Nope.. They live in a bubble that has blacked out windows and never step out into the real world. Im sure the first few months will show renewed vigor for sales but then they will slowly slip to current sales and not come close to their sales goal.
ALL 07-08 Type-S came with Brembos. then you could add the aspec package ontop

The M Sport brake option is shown under the track handling package.
Thank you!

Don't know the actual numbers though; and that was over 10 years ago...
