Maybe you. I think the signs are 100% clear this car is not going to be canceled.

Acura NEVER went this far with the last V10 NSX.

Oh they better not cancel it. Acura spent 10 years fine tuning it.

I suspect they won't cancel it at this point. That being said, I am very concerned it will be a significant disappointment given the technological and performance leaps achieved by the competition.

true...

i think what ruined the plans for the NSX is the GTR....

the main aim of NSX was to beat and be faster than the GTR....if they are not able to achieve that, they wont come out with a car that soon....

the V10 model was 8 seconds off the GTR's timing back in 2010....

now the 2015 nismo model does a 7:08:xx
the 2009-2010 did a 7:25 if I remember right....

so the NSX will have to be atleast half a minute quicker for someone to even consider it as a "sports" car....

All I could hear was the tire noise. At least we know it's faster than a Golf wagon TDI.

I believe that 7:37 with the V10 HSV was done with traffic on the track. I haven't seen any official run of that car.

Is the main aim of the NSX to beat GTR at the ring? From what I've read from Mr. Klaus (the team lead for the NSX), he keeps on saying about building a car that engages the driver, rather than something like a video game. He goes on and talks about passion, emotion, and all that shxt.

To be fair, the 1st gen NSX wasn't much, if at all, faster than the R32 GT-R, despite the NSX being far more $$. I suspect this will continue to be the case with the new NSX.

Iforyou, I thought you were going to get a fancy car (such as the 9G Accord) with all the high-tech bells and whistles to impress your fellas.

Anyhow, congrats on getting your new rides.

Those ppl who said GTR is like a video game, they obviously have not really driven the GTR on the track. I have driven it before but not on the track, but i rode in one on the track and let me tell you, if that is a video game, then i wish all sports cars can be like video game.

if he really cares about passion, emotion and all that shit, then NSX should be a raw mechanical V10 or V8, not some V6 hybrid with all the computerized assisting technology.

I wasn't surprised at iforyou's car choice. He made the right one. Just read his posts, he's an enthusiast for sure.

The only surprising thing was that it wasn't an NSX. Though I'm sure that will happen sooner than later.

Angry Fire

A prototype for Acura’s 2nd-generation NSX supercar only started testing at the Nürburgring yesterday, but already the car has been destroyed. The prototype caught fire during today's round of testing but fortunately the driver managed to pull over and jump out before the flames spread to the rest of the car. Onlookers said the fire started at the rear before engulfing the rest.

The rear is where the car’s twin-turbocharged engine is located as well as its gearbox and one of its 3 electric motors. It’s not clear what caused the fire but we do know the air intakes and vents on the latest prototype are larger than those on previous prototypes as well as the original concept from 2012, suggesting the design has required additional cooling.

Fortunately the fire occurred during testing, and we’re sure engineers will address the issue before production of the new NSX commences next year. As previously reported, the new NSX will be going on sale sometime in 2015, as a 2016 model. It will be badged an Acura for the American and Chinese markets and a Honda everywhere else. Development of the new NSX is taking place primarily in the U.S. and production will be handled at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio.

The drivetrain of the new NSX is a complex hybrid system consisting of a V-6, dual-clutch transmission, lithium-ion battery and three electric motors. 2 of the electric motors power the front wheels independently, while the 3rd, integrated with the V-6 and dual-clutch transmission, helps power the rear wheels. The system is Acura’s new Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive, and a tamer setup is featured in the 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD.

Personally, I think this was done on purpose. Honda purposely set fire on the NSX...gives them a great excuse to delay/postpone/cancel the car.

I'm onto their dirty tricks.

Since the driver got out okay, I don't feel bad at all.

Maybe if they stuck to the original, glorious sounding V10 powerplant, it would be out already. Instead, the car went way off a road course, and now this. I'm thinking Yumcha is right. They're thinking "fuggit, we can't complete anyway. Let's just trash the thing"
