where did you get MSRP for lexus from?
if you had half a brain, you would've read that to get a ES with similar equipment as the TL, you have to get the navi wif levinson which has MSRp of 38XXX of if you downgrade to non levinson but lose VSC, MSRP becomes 36384 and not 34210 so stfu liar and not every body is as stupid as your average customers you conn
doesnt what you posted means people who bought a ES got less options? that doesnt mean a ES with similar features are cheaper than a TL just because more ppl didnt get the options
did you get confused and quote the ES price without navi which is around 34,210??? you just proved my point again though, a TL with navi is same price as ES without navi which makes the LEXUS more expensive..so TL costs less than a ES when equipped similarly. but options such as high grade materials are not available on the tl though, lexus, those bastards, forces people to pay for the high quality materials.
and no, i wasnt as lucky as you to get to play with barbies and since i bought my overpriced BMW, i cant afford to buy barbies now either. but i am glad you can and are enjoying it.

Gilboman has been praising a decidedly nonsporty FWD Japanese sedan. Something is wrong with this picture. It's obvious that someone has gained access to his account and is using it to post un-Gilboish thoughts.
I'm sure the hacker will now try to convince us that he really is Gilboman by posting pro-BMW propaganda and belittling all Japanese FWD sedans as well as their drivers. The fiend.

Learn how to write before you post son. Rather you even drive a beemer thats still up for debate. Now go away.
Yea just like when you went to Japan and saw a bunch of Lexuses... You didn't go to Japan...you went down the block to eat at a Japanese rest and saw a ES300 sitting out in the parking lot...and figured hey let me tell those guys at A-tsx I went to Japan...they will never know the difference.
Oh btw I hope you don't think you are getting FULL leather in your ES...even you can't be that stupid. And if REAL wood trim is that important to me...I can always go down to the national forest and be among the trees.

It's true that they won't sell Lexus in Japan until 2005 (if the report is true), but it doesn't mean they don't sell analagous vehicles badged as Toyotas there. For example, you probably know that they sell the IS300 as Altezza there and checking out the Japanese Toyota site I can see that almost if not all Lexus vehicles are sold there with different (and funny, I should add) names.
Now imagaine an American who goes to Japan and doesn't know that the cars are badged differently there. If he sees an Altezza, he'll recognize it as a Lexus IS300. Unless he actually gets a close view and examines the badge it's very probable that he might never know it's not actually a Lexus but his twin brother.
This is just my theory; don't know if that's actually what happened but I just felt like defending Gilboman a little because I don't see a reason why he'd lie about going to Japan and Hong Kong.
Oh, speaking of Hong Kong, I should add, they DO sell both Lexus(es?) and Acuras over there and I've actually been hoping for a possible TSX Hong Kong edition. (Don't see it coming though as the only Acuras they sell right now are RL and RSX, at least according to acura.com.hk). Oh theory number 2: since Gilboman mentioned he's been to both Japan and Hong Kong it's also possible for him to mix up what cars he saw where.

Okay, just for the heck of it, here's a third theory
You know how there are those people here in the states who like to rebadge their Acuras as Hondas? I mean, I *have* seen a "Honda" Integra out there before. So it would also be possible that some Japanese might have rebadged their Toyotas as Lexuses.

Sorry to say but I like the interior of the new GS430 better. Is the navigation system on the new RL still a touch screen? What is that big "i-drive" looking button doing there?
#272
I'm liking the new RL look even more as it grows on me. As others have said "understated" is the word and a it's a good thing. I REALLY like this grill more than the MDX, TL version and hope they stick with it, it has great class.
Agreed that something may have to be done to make the trunk look like it is not open. Also, would be interested how it would look with the ir intake extended all the way across incorporating the fog lights (maybe someone who is working on that photochop could try that). When the 17" or 18" wheels are selected I hope they stick with the STYLE from the 20" prototype as these project the sporting nature of this car.
I think that Acura did a bold move in going with more of a sloping hood for the RL. So many brands go with the huge front end on their cars to say "here's our flagship". Acura is breaking from this mold.

I suspect that the nav controller is located where it is for ergonomics. There is a lot less motion away from the steering wheel if you only have to reach laterally rather than hunt behind the shifter for the knob. The knob location on the console puts the motions turning the knob in the same plane as the nav screen (also more ergonomic and intuitive - things that tech designers seem to put a lot of emphasis on, even though sometimes the esthetics are compromised).

But aren't the paddle shifters on the steering wheel? I guess you can only put so many things on the steering wheel.
I think the placement of the knob on the dash is ergonomically sound, but it's a poor aesthetic choice. I didn't like the recessed nav screen from day 1. Acura should've kept the usual placement of the nav screen and continued with a touch screen system.

In the case of BMW the placement of the I drive controller makes sense - BMW thinks that "sport sedans" should be driven with an MT and your hand is by the shifter all the time any way - so it's near the controller. As anyone who has ever driven the new 5 series will tell you it's quite comfortable to use it in its location. The problem is the menu structure on the screen.
Actually, that might be a problem with the new RL and all new cars in this category that have a screen as the interface with many car functions instead of dedicated knobs. If it's more difficult to perform a function via the screen than the previous knob, you'll have complaints (imagine some computer illiterate doofer trying to change radio stations when it's burried 3 menus deep). That's what happened with BMWs I drive. It's a very subjective issue - if you're a young computer geek you might love it - if you're a computer illiterate doofer you might hate it.

Just wanted to say: Went to the show yesterday, and I can't
stress how much injustice those press photos does to the RL.
Everybody says how small the car "looks". And it does (IN THE
PHOTOS.)
When you see this thing upfront, it just looks way BETTER,
and BIGGER. It's BIG, trust me.
Saw the new GS: Exterior not impressive at all. I'd take '04
over it.
Saw new M35/45: Quite impressive, to say the least.
Funny; when I passed the GS and M45 display, only 1 or 2
people were there checking them out. At the RL display, there
were about 10 or more people. No lie.

It doesn't matter big it looks or is, it's actually 4" shorter than the last model - it's at the high end of the mid-size sedan category (the TSX is at the other end). I don't remember too many folks comenting on size - any comments about size were drowned out by comments about its blandness.
