No, Emu, I am not trying to imply anything, just we all need patience, Justin will come through, he always does. If not tonight, tommorow (I am up working, and just checked the site now for the first time since early today).

Maybe they had a black out in Calif (you know, it could spread from our east here (it was fun - not).

Well, it is a new day and I do not know anything new, other than I had a dream someone stole my 03 TLS-Navi and it was found hanging from a telephone pole.

It is almost time to have surgery on the frontal lobe.

Sorry guys I didn't get back home till very late last night. As some of you know I was up in Torrance. There are good news and bad news. I can't release any of the specs right now...because I was warned not to. Big brother knows about our spy pics in seattle and all the other stuff we have been talking about on this site. Actually they brought up the topic about this site, I tried to keep my mouth shut. Sept 1st. will be D day when the embrago is lifted.

With that said, I did see the car and its awesome. The TL is like the TSX it looks much better in person. I didn't sit inside so I couldn't play with the controls, only walked around the outside. I won't get a chance to drive it till 9/9th.>

New York/New Jersey Hilton Rye Town 9/17/2003 - 9/18/2003
Philadelphia DuPont Country Club 9/22/2003 - 9/23/2003
Washington, D.C. Pier 5 Hotel 9/25/2003 - 9/25/2003
Columbus Hyatt Regency 9/29/2003 - 9/29/2003
Atlanta Chateau Elan 10/1/2003 - 10/2/2003
Orlando Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin 10/6/2003 - 10/6/2003
Miami Diplomat Country Club & Spa 10/9/2003 - 10/9/2003
Los Angeles Four Seasons Newport Beach 9/9/2003 - 9/10/2003
Houston Intercontinental Houston 9/16/2003 - 9/16/2003
Dallas Hilton DFW Lakes 9/18/2003 - 9/18/2003
Chicago Marriott Northwest at Hoffman Estates 9/22/2003 - 9/23/2003
San Francisco Hotel Nikko 10/2/2003 - 10/3/2003
Seattle Westin Seattle 10/6/2003 - 10/6/2003

There are NO ventilated seats. NO adaptive cruise control. The TL looks MEAN...they had one with a full body kit including a deck lid spoiler. HPT is just a tire option...no other extras. The rest you have to wait another couple of weeks...Im very sorry.

j/k, Justin - Pretty funny actually.

OK, y'all hear that? Sept. 1.

P.S. So -- You mean HPT is definitely just an "option," not a trim level? (And, the "T" definitely does stand for tire?)

It's not a trim level. Bascially if you ordered the 6 spd you can choose to upgrade to the HP tires. I think its so stupid for them to do that but what can I do

Oh, bluetooth is just for the phone.

:'( :shakehd: :thumbsdn: Poor me.

Thanks for the data. I appreciate you reaching out to us with some new facts.

Personally, I did not really care about the adaptive CC. The only things I wonder now are power folding mirrors, smart-key, 18" wheels on the manual and whether or not Brembos will be on the rear, too.

Glad to hear it looks awesome.

Out of the gate, you seem to be recommending the body-kit. I was leaning toward the lip spoiler, but we'll see.

In spite of the embargo, great update. Thank you.

PS - I am now going to take my hot back and legs and jump out the window.

PPS - If HPT is tire only, I will also skip it...

They are the R/D(ride/drive) dates for all the different regions in the U.S. So if some of you are in those areas you can get a sneak peek at the TL before anyone else.

I will be at the Four Seasons in Newport Beach on 9/9th.

No power folding mirrors, no smart key. Hey at least the driver seat is a 10 way power seat.

Thanks for the info, Justin!

I'm hoping that the folks at Acura have a good reason for their secrecy. Hopefully we'll see an engine with 3.4 or 3.5L and more torque and some features we haven't talked about yet.

Quick question for you, though...

Do you think there will be anything that will surprise us on Sept. 1st (you don't have to say what it is)?

I guess that's the bottom line on this. I see you agree it isn't smart.

At the beginning, I thought the whole thing about "HPT" was that it was something very noteworthy, something that deserved to be really highlighted. That was because, first of all, it was listed as one of the specific "versions" of the car, which I took to be basically trim level; and second, because people were so excited about HPT. You might say it isn't Acura's fault if people get excited But really it is, because people were just reacting to what Acura was putting out. Acura doesn't want to be putting stuff out in a way that generates unjustified excitement, because then it leads to disappointment.

And I thought Acura was smarter than that (which they usually are). Therefore I thought it probably wouldn't be just a run-of-the-mill "option," and it would be some kind of package rather than just tires (and BTW the "T" certainly wouldn't just stand for tires).

I think Acura messed up on this. Not necessarily on the car, but at least on how they managed the advance PR on this. Fortunately, hardly anyone except us will much remember this after the car has been out for a while.

Ah ha! I thought I noticed that there was no manual lumbar adjustment in one of those spy photos...

Does the hood or trunk have struts?

No I don't think there will be any surprises. Im driving a G35 sedan right now...as soon as the TL comes out...im giving it back to Infiniti. RWD is not that important to me on the California freeways.

Makes the car skinnier.

My previous car was a TL-S. A few times I scraped one or the other side- mirror against the side-wall of my garage entrance, because the car just barely fit. With power-folding mirrors, there wouldn't have been any problem.

I have been thinking about this whole HPT thing... I really wanted the Brembo brakes, but I wonder if I want them bad enough to go back to a four door manual. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

Again, great update!

Its actually a yes and no answer. If you are comparing a Tl@216ft lbs then its yes but if its the TLS@232ft lbs then no.

The public is not even suppose to know we are there. Of course you can't ride in it. Its for dealers only. You probably won't even be able to get close to it. How you guys can see it while its near your location, you will have to figure that out for yourselves.

well how do these things typically work? The Pier 5 Hotel is in Baltimore...I would have figured they would have done it at FedEx field or another open place where you could set up a track. Do they just meet at the hotel and then drive out on the roads?

Wouldn't it be ironic if the Automobile magazine everyone has been bashing was right. I think it mentioned something along the lines of the TL being powered by the current engine found in the TL-S.

Are you able to share anything regarding power tilt/telescoping wheel?

BTW, you mentioned phone only for Bluetooth, will it be integrated into the navi screen as I described in some other threads?

True, but to me, no's are answers and I'll take 'em.

Since no one else is asking, I'll keep chiming in...

Are we yay or nay for power lumbar?

Here's an off-topci type of question.... My 03-TLS gets super gas mileage (30+ mpg highway and 26 MPG mixed) will the new TL have it's overdrive geared similarly to continue producing fabulous MPG?

Yes power lumbar for driver. There were no stickers on the car and no drive ratios on the spec sheet I have so I don't know.

The TL mini site on www.acura.com will go live on 9/4th.

justin, can you comment further on workings of the R/D?

I'm actually not too disappointed with all these no's. Most of those things I wouldn't have expected, you guys have standards too high for an entry to mid-level lux sedan. I do wish they had taken greater advantage of bluetooh, though, and cylinder deactivation with adaptive cruise control would have been great for long road trips.

AWESOME! I had power lumbar on my 94 Cobra and it is a great feature.

Are fog/driving lights definitely a dealer installed accessory?

You mentioned seeing the car in person... Did you see an auto or stick?

If it was a stick, did you happen to notice if it definitely had 17" not 18" wheels and whether or not it had Brembo brakes in the rear?

Quick Reply: 2004TL actually going to have 275 HP!
