Hfl

Just linked my z600...WOW it is awesome! It was so easy to sync and the clarity is amazing. Only disappointment is that i was hoping that the phonebook would be synched to my car but apparently i have to set up separately in car. Also are there any security issues if my car was stolen. Can my phonebook be accessed wo/password or w/another bt phone?

For those w/ a bluetooth phone...do you sync everytime getting in to the car or can u leave device on ???is there a easier way than turning on BT and "looking for handsfree device" when entering car everytime...and also is it safe to just shut engine off and walk awa or do i have to shut bluetooth and everything off first?

Turning on bluetooth with the Z600: You can put a short cut in the "short cut" submenu. If you're worried about someone bluejacking you or anything, keep in mind that bluetooth only has a range of 30ft or 3 yards. If you're driving, I doubt someone will try to keep alongside or behind you just to send you a stupid message.

Which firmware version do you have on your Z600? I owned one awhile back but never had a chance to play with it in a 2k4 TL. The phone was a bit thick but overall it is an awesome phone.

firmware: hit right star left left star left star and it'll bring you to the service menu. From there you can check your firmware version and do all sorts of tests.

Acuranme: How did you get the z600 for $200? The best price I've seen is on the internet for about $369. There is one store selling for $229 after you activate, but they say they can't sell to most east coast states, for some reason, my state being one of them.

T-Mobile is due to release the Z600 soon. I will try to get more word on it but last I heard the T-Mobile customized firmware, faceplates, etc were already in the making.

mobilezen: If that's the case, aren't I still better off just getting the z600 unlocked and setting it up on t-moble with a sim card? that way I could decide to go to another carrier if I wanted, but with a tmobile branded phone, that would not be an option (or a difficult one). Are you aware of any advantages one would have by getting the tmobile branded z600?

AirlineMuseum.c: With a T-Mobile branded Z600, I can unlock, flash, upgrade the firmware so you would never be able to tell the difference between that and an OEM boxed one.

The firmware and faceplates are available now for the T-mobile branded Z600.
After pairing it once with the car, as long as you leave the bluetooth on, it will always sync with the car upon starting it.

mobilezen: I see - thanks for the info. That being the case, is there an advantage to waiting for the branded versions, or should I just go ahead and get it unlocked now? Will the price be lower if I got a branded version through t-mobile? alternately, if I did get it unlocked, and wanted to put it on the t-mobile network, would they be likely to offer me any rebates/service credits for having brought my own phone into the deal?

Finally, slightly off topic, but if I did get it unlocked, as I understand it, the phone would not come with a SIM card at all, so I would need to get one. Are these SIM cards free, or if not, about how much do they usually cost?

Thanks

The BIGGEST advantage of waiting for the branded Z600 to come out is that it will effect the overall pricing of the phone (both branded and unbranded), being that it will drop the price altogether. Usually the branded ones will be cheaper if you are an existing customer who does a handset upgrade.

What phone do you have? T-Mobile does not offer a trade in program unfortunately. Kind of wish they did since I would have some phones to trade in.

T-Mobile charges $20 bucks for a sim card. Yes that is correct, phones do not come with sim cards.

Any guess as to when they might start offering the branded version? Is it like a month away or more like 6 months?
I'm coming off a SprintPCS Moto TimePort 8767, which I'll probably keep or give to a friend - doubt I could get more than $50 for it.
Would Tmoble offer any discount or rebate for someone in my position, coming in as a new customer from the competition?

Yeah, the z600 is amazing in the TL, but I guess everyone is overpaid for the phone. I got it for free without rebate and it is unlocked.
