Yet another Adding a sub to stock headunit question

Ok I am going to start this weekend with my fiberglass mold however after driving the car for only one day I realize I cannot wait until I finsh my glass box to put SOMETHING in.. Now my question is this I know the only true signal is directly from the Headunit before the EQ however I really dont want to pull the dash apart any more then I need and induce needless rattles from clips comming loose. The easiest option is to just tap at the factory sub ( which i know will have auto loadness and low volumes however does anyone know if the bose system has a parametric eq on there sub to filter out low freq. ? I know mercedes and some lexus do. If that is the case it will sound like ass I have a couple extra 10's laying around that I will use for the next month or so while i build the rest of the panels. Any information about the EQ of the sub would be really helpfull. Also does the system lower the sub out at higher volumes? Thanks for any help..

parametric eq's don't filter out low frequencies, and the bose eq isn't parametric (parametric refers to a means of adjusting an EQ, and the bose ain't adjustable at all).

I would ask Derrick... but I don't think he is too hip on this, having tried to do it for a while : )

its already crossovered at the bose amp. Just tap in, if you feel its not strong enough use a line driver. But its definitely low pass signal from that factory sub.

So you're saying to tap into the subwoofer speaker wire, and THEN use a line driver?

Well all the amps I have laying around are Xtant X series so they already have a very good built in line driver I just wanted to find out if there was any kind of subsonic filter.. ( cuting off bass below a certin freq. ) or bass limiting circuit at higher volumes..

No, I was trying to get nismo to be clearer...

And you have 600W amps lying around? I've also never heard amps characterized as having line drivers built into them... maybe cause they don't, really... I think you mean that the xtant amps can take speaker-level inputs, which they can, but not that they have line drivers built into them.

As far as I know, the speaker level out to the subs is not severely high-pass filtered or compressed like a stock VW HU, for example, where all the bass goes away when it's loud... I'm sure it is eq'd, but you can't have everything.

I hardly think that it's worth it to hose wit the Bose preamp OP for a temporary install.

I was part of team Xtant for a while so yeah I have many of the laying around I have 4 Xtant X1001 which I did alot of beta testing for and a few Xtant 2200Xi and yes they do have a built in line driver (not just speaker line in) it will boost any incomming signal

"The input circuitry operates similar to a line driver by increasing the signallevel when placed in the +10 and +20 dB positions. The following chart illus-trates this function:INPUT VOLTAGE MULTIPLYING FACTORINPUT JUMPER POSITIONMULTIPLYING FACTOR+20 dB=10+10 dB=30 dB=1–10 dB=.3–20 dB=.1(ie: A head unit with 300mV output with input jumper @ +20dB = 3 Volts input)"

It will also do the same thing to speaker level inputs you have to switch the amp over to balanced input and use http://xtant.com/html/products/accessories.cfm
the bottom accessory... all it is a a RCA on one end and bare positive and negative wires..

I reall cant decide what kind of system I want to do in this car. I really dont want to go all out like my last car just because I want this to be a good over all daliy driver. I just biult a bandpass box for a pair of xtant 10's that have been sitting here for a while ported through the stock sub location that way I dont have to start sound deadening the trunk yet.. Just by the fealing of the truck lid ( very light ) I can tell this thing will ratlle like crazy and I cant stand ANY rattle. My other car has 4 eclipse ti 12s and 2 Xtant 1001x amps.
