where did you hook the remote wire from the amplifier?

I know there's a remote wire from the amplifier for a signal to turn it on and off so that you won't drain the battery.

Most people would have the remote wire hooked to a fuse or a certain wire from the back of the radio so that when you turn the key to the off position, the amp turns off as well.
(so far my setup has a wire from the amp remote slot straight to the radio fuse)

I want to hook the remote wire to a switch, most likely i'm thinking of the cruise control switch on the steering wheel on the TSX. Has anybody ever done this or seen it done? I thought it would be a good spot to hide and keep things looking more OEM without miscellaneous things; such as holes, extra switches, extra wires, etc.

could you provide a diagram of the cruise control switch if there is one please? thanks

REMOTE: all the way to the right, second gold screw

i had the same question before. what makes it a bit easier is that there is already an amp in the car driving the speakers. this amp has a fuse located in the driver side footwell.

simply remove that fuse, push one end of the remote wire into the output end of the fuse circuit and re-insert the fuse so that it holds the wire in place.

amp turns on when the car stereo is on and turns off when you turn the car stereo on.

I put mine in the power window fuse.
If the windows work, the amps on.

the stereo that i'm using came in my '94 firebird...the kid who had it before me hacked it up a bit so it doesn't have a remote to amp wire >_<

so instead i had to run another power wire from the battery, to a switch, to the remote port on the amp. i'm running a 1A inline fuse on the wire.

the thing is, i have to remember to turn it off when i get out of the car every time haha. if i could, i would run from stereo remote out to a switch to the amp so that i could just leave the switch on and always have the stereo on when the car was running, but use the switch as an emergency turn off for one of my amps, etc.

there are plenty of ways of getting good looking switches wired in - the key is to finding a good spot for it and getting a switch that isn't too over the top - make it look professionally installed and most people won't even realize that it's not an OEM switch...unless they know the car =b
