whats wrong with out stock system

I was just listening to 50 cent PIMP, then some evanescense going under, then some lasgo something, and then some disturbed remember. Basically I think the stock system is pretty clear and crisp with any type of singing its just not that great on harder rock. It lacks bass, but I think that the stock sound system is great and I have no plans of upgrading.

It is great.. Clarity first and there is no clipping or wierd bass sounds.

Bass is enough for me, I can see the side mirrors rattling hard and becoming out of foucs.

My CLS is not a night club after all

The stock system just wasn't loud enough for me.

I planned on adding my IPod to my current system... but the SQ was lacking. When I turned the volume up to a resonable level, it would sound distorted. Even after adjusting the levels on the IPod and headunit it still sounded bad.

Stock sound sucks! Listen to some other stock sound systems. I rented a ford focus & that sounded better. Even the TL's system blows the CL away. I had a few TL loaners. The head unit is fine, just needs more power & bass.

i too find the stock system plenty sufficient.. i heard TypeSKid's upgraded system and the fronts are more crisp and the added bass is nice (if that's what you want) but to call our stock system sucky is an exaggeration..

what size speakers fit in top of the door panels? i may look into replacing those..

those that think the stock system is enough hasn't heard a GOOD and PROPERLY INSTALLED aftermarket sound system.

Wrong. I have over 4 grand worth of Apline equipment from my other car still sitting in it. I have no intentions of transferring it over to the CL anytime soon.

Now is my other system better than my current stock one in the CL? Shit yeah. However is the one in the CL "enough" (minus the lack of bass) for me right now? Yep.

WTF? How could you here it over the road noise, struggling engine and the rattles?

those that think the stock system is enough hasn't heard a GOOD and PROPERLY INSTALLED aftermarket sound system.
I couldn't disagree more. I too have had systems costing more than $5k top to bottom and none of them had subs larger than 10's. I won many, many Car Audio contests in my day as well. This system has a very nice balance to it. I find the TL-S response and balance to better better than that of the CL-S, but both are very good. Granted the Lexus Mark Levinson or the Bose in the Audi are even better, but the stock in this car is quite good.
Granted, my old systems were definitely better in the long run, but I certainly cannot justify even $2k or $3k better anymore...

I'm satisfied with the sound although I also think it lacks bass. I don't really pump the bass up in my previous cars nor at home (except when watching movies), but this system is good enough. I wish it had a sub that came with it like the TL, but oh well.

I hate to sound like a jerk but the stock sound system sucks for a $30,000 car, as I've heard many other stock systems which were better.
Bose is not good sound period. If it's good enough for you that's fine, leave it but I could not.
You could replace it with a better system for less than a grand.

What stock enclosure? If you are talking about the TL, ppl have done it. Better but not much. CL does not have the space in a free air sub on the rear deck.

The sound is ok Not bad but not good. I just changned my speakers and it makes a world of dif (But that was a pain in the ass be cause you cant just hook it up you have to buy amps and hook that up too.) I had a lexus and missed the clean highs( but it had no bass) what made me change my speakers was i replaced my sisters speakers in her integra wiht just some $40 pioneers and i could hear things that i could never hear in my own system. and that just pissed me off.

i wonder why someone started this thread. everyone has different tastes and everyone likes different music. bose stock system does NOT suck, no matter what any of you can say. My jag costs more than my CL and that system sounds horrible so who is to say that the price of the car actual matters when it comes to the system. If you like bass, great, install a sub. if you don't, crank up your billy joel and enjoy the stock. nuff said

This is a silly thread, but the stock sound system does suck, I don't care what some of you guys think and I don't feel like I'm going overboard with this comment. If it's good enough for you or you don't have the money, that's cool but don't try to convince people that it's a good system, it's marginal at best.
Acura could have done alot better and they chose Bose becuase of it's name brand appeal.

come on, guys.

Freedome of speech

Everyone is welcome to state his/her opinions as long as it has something to do with the sound system since this is a A/V forum.

To ppl who are bitten by the audio bug like me, the stock system is good enough to be ripped out

This is your opinion, and I respect that. But please note that it is your opinion and not fact.

In my opinion the stock system is pretty good. But that is just my opinion; again not fact. I am probably a geezer compared to most on this board (mid 30's) and my music tastes have mellowed. I don't play it loud, I just like good clean sound. I feel I get good clean sound from the Bose system, especially when playing CDs.

My only complaint was lack of bass. So I added a Basslink. I didn't want a lot of bass, but just enough to complement the stock system. In fact I have the gain on the Basslink turned way down. I can't really tell it is there; I can just tell the music sounds more full. Now I am very happy with the system.

Most of my friends are about my age and have mellowed as well. And I often get comments from them about how clean my system sounds. Again it comes down to opinion.

For those of you with tastes similar to me, I suggest keeping it stock or just adding a Basslink. For those with different tastes and opinions, go for it and modify until you are happy. I encourage you to report on your system and give us your thoughts. But I respectfully request that you don't confuse fact and opinion.

I will agree with you guys that it is a matter of opinion to a degree.
Saying the Bose system is a good one, all depends what you compare it to and at that point opinion changes somewhat.
If you never make the comparison, you have nothing to judge it by. I say my $5,000.00 system is good not great but I'm comparing to $10 to 15,000.00 systems, so you see my personal view. Many people think my system is fantastic but that's because thier used to their stock system.
I respect the guys that like their stock system, so I didn't mean to come off like a snob. Sometimes I wish I didn't have the HI-FI bug but what can you do, I've always been addicted.
I'm 34 and still like my music accurate and loud, as does my father who is 52, so I don't think age is really a factor here.
It's a matter of priority and personal taste.

I don't find my TL's stock system too bad. The imaging is a little off on both front seats but other than that it is decent for a factory job. Nothing spectacular, but not THAT bad...

Anyone looking to buy a car based solely for the audio system, definitely take alisten to the Volvo C70 with the premium sound option. As far as factory systems go it has no peers IMO...

By the way, I didn't mean to single you out. My comments were intended to be general. And I wasn't trying to write a sermon (although I admit it sounded a bit like one as I re-read it). I just get annoyed when people state fact as opinion. I respect the opinion of others and enjoy hearing them. I just prefer the opinions not to be stated as if they are fact.

I apologize if you took this as a personal shot. It wasn't meant to be that. And I agree with your points above. Taste in stereo systems is all up to the individual and a number of factors.

No need to apologize, but thanks anyway.
I agree with you 100%, more is based on opinion than fact when it comes to these issues.
