What music types do you listen to?
Are you looking for SQ or SPL....or both
Are you willing to do some "remodeling" to the car? (cutting speaker openings in doors...)

thats like a thousand right there...plus thats screens gonan be usless with out a dvd player, navi, or another video source...unless you want the screen to tell you that # of the track thats playing on your cd which a nomral headunit does anyway

i think for a thousand you could probably do one sub, an amp, coxials all around, powered by a headunit....that wouldnt be the highend stuff....probably something you would find at circuit city...you should check out theose kind of stores if you looking for a complete system for uner 1k...

unless your listening to music that demands a huge amount of clarity, like classical or opera, its not really worth getttin new speakers if your getttin a subwoofer. if you put more power into the stock speakers and filter out the low end, they will produce very respectable highs. i suggest you do 2 amps, one for your speakers and one for a sub, a good head unit, and a good sub with a custom enclosure so u can do the sub within the cabin, and high pass filters to keep the low end from the stocks. do a real nice custom setup with molding and whatnot and youll be alot happier. coaxials can come after you set up the groundwork

go to like the cicuit city website or aomehting similar and price out a system..you'l get an idea of how much it cost...sounds like you want a headunit, frotn speakers, subwoofer(s), a mono amp and a 2 channel for the speakers...i was pricing out a system for kicks and for all low end alpine equipment a almost complete system for you, for parts alone, will be 1400...amps are expensive...

i had this crazy idea in my sleep. could i get 2 10's or maybe 2 12's (which is the best bang for the buck) and just have another sub like a 10inch in a box so that i can still have the cargo room

Cool. Another 16 year old member.

Anyways, You can get a very nice sound quality system for under $1000, but a HD with screen is gonna take up most of the budget. That alone is close to $1000 already.

u should check ebay out. its much cheaper and you can find everything you're gonna need. i got my alpine deck (no screen) for 200 instead of 280 at circuit city. 2 infinity kappa perfect 10's for 236 shipped instead of like 250 each special ordered at circuit city, and like 50 bux for a pair of 6.5's (infinity) and 50 for infinity 6 x 9's. the rest i got from this guy i kno that works at good guys. but for under 1g, u're not gonna be able to get a lot at any retail store of what you're looking for.

Hi, it's good to see some other 16 yr olds on here. Ebay is definately the way to go...I got my 2 12" Audiobahn subs, Audiobahn amp, and Pioneer headunit all brand new for $1100 (the retail price was $2500). So ya, I say go eBay.

audiobahn is more flashy that sound quality. But it bumps pretty good. The whole amp, and most of the subs are all chromed out...so that's pretty cool. I can't really judge sound quality yet becuase I left my stock headunit in there...I didn't put in my Pioneer yet. Both my friend and a professional installer said that as soon as I put the new headunit in, I'll get an even better bump, and a significantly better SQ. So overall, I'm really happy with what I got...I was definately worth the money!!
