What are some good amps that aren't expensive?
I was thinking about the JLaudio series, MTX, or the JBL series amps. What do you fellas think about the JBL amps, are they worth it?
The 3 you listed are really not in the same price range. The JBl amps are really inexpensive and offer some great bang for the buck. MTX price is probably in the middle and I would consider JL rather expensive when listed with the other two.
The JBL P80.4 and one of their sub amps, 300.1 or 600.1, would make a great system for not alot of money.

What are you looking to drive? Speakers or subs?
I have a JBL PX600.2 (~$240) that I'm running to a set of JBL C608GTi component speakers (~$350 - $450). The amp provides 150W per channel in 4 ohms @ 0.04% THD. One of the best setups I've ever heard for the $$$$.
I'm also running a JBL BPX1100.1 (~$600) that I'm running to an Image Dynamics IDMAX V3 D2. It is configured in a 4 ohm mono load and receiving ~1100W @ 0.5% THD. This amp will work in 1,2 or 4 ohm mono configurations. The birth sheet showed that the 4 ohm config. would work as well as the 1 ohm config and I figured it would be easier on the amp to do so. 1100 vs. 1200W doesn't make an audible difference but can make a difference in the heat generated by the amp.
All in all, I'm very happy with the JBL amps. The two cost me roughly $850 plus shipping. My system is as loud and clean as any I've ever heard.
Keep in mind, regardless of which amp manufacturer you choose, you have to choose high quality speakers/components to get the sound you're looking for.
It doesn't do any good to have a killer amp and crap speakers.
Check out what I've done with my system so far and let me know if you have any questions I could help with.
