What do I have to do to get a system.....and keep the bose????

I want a little extra thump, but I don't want to rip out the bose system......(lack of tons of cash to replace everything). So I know I need a coverter, but which one? I was thinking a JL 10 W3 with thier mono amplifier.....any suggestions. I don't like the way the bass link looks, if I get a raw sub, I can make my own box and mount the amp. I kind of want a custom look, and I don't want to be heard from blocks away.

You can see my set-up below. From what I have seen, a few have put in a basslink with no complaints. Seems the cheaper way to go and I would have definitely considered it considered what I paid for mine.

My set up cost me about $1,400 since install was $400. But my install included custom install of amp in trunk as well as a on/off switch hidden behind the hood release tab and a bass control know mounted by the cruise on/off switch.

If you want to save some money on the install, make sure that you will be able to mount the amp on the sub box. I treid to attach picture but it says it is too large and have no time to figure it out. If you want to see it, search archives or pm me your e-mail address.

I used a box called "OEM Interface" In my car. $60
It allows you to use your factory speakers with and aftermarket headunit, which also allows you to hook up the subs ..via the Headunit.

Don't know..but mine says....Acura/Honda w/ Bose systems
'87-'98. Part# HRC - ACU/HON
it's by PIE
I'm sure they make them for the new CL's
I would imagine any reputable stereo shop would have them or at least be able to get them

You're right...basslink is pretty bad. IMHO it's not something I would recommend to anyone. You can easily have a JL 10w3 (250W RMS)...run it with say a Rockford Fosgate 400.2 bridged...and get the whole thing for $350. A good sealed or ported box will be another $100, the wiring etc another $50. That's a total of $500 and should be fine for you.

Nicky,

I have one 10w3 integrated with my stock system. It sounds great. It has great response plus it can still hit the lows. I am running a sony es 2 channel amp that is putting about 350w to the sub plus a cap. I also put in a alpine universal bass control. I have pics if you want. Plus I did it my self so I can help if you want some info.

Here you go Nicky. I hope you like. The box is a sealed enclosure of .85 cubic feet the box looks bigger than it actually is to accomadate the long amp.
