What amp should I go with?

I ended up going with a 15" alpine type-r subwoofer. Whats the best amp to match up with this sub. Anyone else have a 15" sub, and if so, how does it sound and what do u have?

i dont know but my 10" type r is taking at least 500 rms right now. the kind of amp you use is also going to depend on whether you got a dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm sub.

then again that alpine pdx 1.1000 puts out equal power at 4 or 2ohms. i say go with a 1 ohm stable amp for future power upgrades.

id go with the Rockford T1000.1, im re[airing 2 right now, some genius switched the power and ground and blew a few transistors, bought them for next to nothing. Great amps though. Its also 1 ohm stable and has a db sync option

i believe alpine pdx puts out 1000 at 1-4 ohms

you are absolutely right. but then again if he has a D4 or D2 it wouldnt matter cause he could wire it for 4 or 2 ohms..

^exactly, so i'd say go with an alpine pdx-1.1000 , i've wanted to try them for awhile now, and they're pretty small in size for the power they put out

^if your sub is a dual 2 ohm then no (and the alpine type R's in 15" i believe only are avilable in dual voice coil), this amp will push it's most power at 2 ohms which is 750W rms. But the only ways you can wire your dual 2 ohm sub is for the amp to see either a 1 or a 4ohm load, and this amp i not 1 ohm stable. Therefore you would have to wire your sub for the amp to see a 4ohm load, meaning the amp will be only giving the sub 375W RMS, which would be greatly underpowering your sub, and you don't want that.
here's a diagram of how your sub will probably be wired to your amp, unless you get an amp that is 1 ohm stable

you need an amp that will produce atleast 750W RMS at either 4ohms or 1ohm

so what are some quality amps other than the alpine 1000.1 that would do this?

how are the new rockford fosgate amps? i only have experience with the old school ones. last i heard was the engineer or designer moved on to MTX. and that the quality of rockford went down a bit and they require a good 14.4v to achieve full power rather than 12ish..

MY buddy has a 12" power with a rockford amp and it sounds like trash. I need an amp with a bass control too because i dont have a subwoofer control in my faceplate, only an equalizer. And im getting the 15 " alpine type r 4ohm subs with duel ovice coils. Would the Kicker 08ZX750.1 be a good match with it to power it to the subs totential well?

i think someone posted up top that yes the kicker 750 puts out the 750 at 2 ohms so since you have a dual 4 sub wire it to a 2 ohm load and your amp will see a 2 ohm load and you have 750 watts.. i still think you should get a pdx tho. get a ported box for that type-r and run a pdx 1000 and your $hit will BUMP HARDDDDDD

as I said tho, I don't have a sub control on my faceplate so I need a bass contol knob, which the alpine amps don't have. The kicker 750 really runs over 900 rms anyway right?

i liked the one 15" Kicker L7 in the bonneville the best. I would really just 2 12's or 4 12's though. we need just a hair more airspace to rock the 15......s

ya the kicker amp should be good then. and apparently it pushes just under 900W rms @2ohms, which is what you'll run it at
oh ya and those bass knobs aren't all they're cracked up to be, i got one for my rockford, it has two dials, one for bass boost and one for frequency. for the bass boost it barely changes how loud my subs are, to get them super loud or super quiet i have to change the sub control on my HU, but goodluck with yours tho
