what alpine to get?

my bday is coming up and i want a head unit for my car. I plan on getting the ipod interface for an alpine receiver also, but in a later time. What is recommended for an alpine head unit for 2-400 range? Thanks.

IMO, hard to get a real good HU for $400... an in the new Alpine line not sure if that gets you 4V out.

my buddy just picked up the 9855. you should def go into a store that has it and mess with the new slider function. i personally don't like it. i have the older 9835 and i love my HU. athought the 9855 has some more tweaking abilities i was not a fan of the slider. but i read that ppl get used to it and i only messed with it for 45 mins. but def play with it before you buy it.

I agree, If you are looking to get the 9853 or 55, definately make sure you are comforatable w/the glide-touch because it is frustrating and dangerous to mess with on the road if you are not familiar with it.
