Viper StartSmart [for iPhone]

I currently have the Crimestopper CS-2900 DP II FM Security/Remote Start System and am unhappy with it. Thus, I am looking for a new security/remote start system. One system that is very appealing to me is the Viper 5901 or Viper 5902 and Viper StartSmart Module (VSM100). The thing I like most about this set-up is the ability to receive alerts and perform commands on my iPhone anywhere I get service! Single digit mile range is now a thing of the past! I believe the only difference between the Viper 5901 and 5902 is their 2-way responder remote; the 5901 has a LC3 LCD screen and the 5902 has a HD color OLED screen. Am I correct on this?

Does anyone use the Viper SmartStart? If so, what phone do you use it on and how do you like it? What other security/remote start systems do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance for the help!

Your right on the difference between the 5901 and 5902.
The app is the same for all phone OS.

And I think the drone is wayyyy better by compustar. They have 1 free first year, TRUE gps tracking and shit tons of other features the smartstart doesnt have yet. The smartstart doesnt have true gps tracking its more of a ping effect, and they don't have a bunch of features that the drone has YET. They will get them eventually, their plan is to release monthly or bi-monthly updates adding a new feature everytime over the next two years. Sucks for customers because they are missing out but business wise its an amazing plan IMO as a marketing student.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, I sell these for a living so I have a good amount of info to share

The Drone looked pretty sweet and next setup will be something like that!

My boss added the Smartstart to his newest vehicle about 6 months ago and likes it. But as we mainly do Compustar alarms, he wishes he waited for the Drone due to it's extra features. We had our rep in today showing us the Drone in action and it was really cool. He was able to bring up exactly where his vehicle was, then showed us the location of his kids vehicle. I may add the Drone onto my vehicle, but it will be more difficult as I have an older 3000m Compustar brain.

Will Viper's monthly/bi-monthly updates cost the consumer any money, besides the yearly subscription fee?

Thanks! I'll prolly take you up on that offer... don't be surprised if you see a PM(s) from me in your inbox If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

Viper vs. Compustar

It appears that you guys like Compustar's mobile module better than Viper's. Which company provides the best overall security, Viper or Compustar?

I'd say both are comparable, security differences being in the installation. Compustar offers better range and are much easier to install IMO. Their brains are much better designed with all the usefull wires on the same side. This allows for a much cleaner installation. However I do like the DEI remotes better, especially in the 5902. But that is kind of moot if you use your phone to control the alarm.

One minor thing DEI does better is it doesn't lock out your ability to control the alarm during the remote start phase. In other words you can hit the remote start button then immediately hit the disarm button. With Compustar's 2-way systems you have to wait for confirmation of remote start before you can do anything else.
