which do you think is better. why do the sites score v1 badly.

Both are great detectors. I have the Passport 8500 cuz I didn't want to spend the extra $100 for the V1. If you are happy with the V1 stick with it. It a great detector, can't go wrong with it. IMO Passport 8500 performs just as well as the V1. I will keep my extra $100 thanks.

I don't know what lame-brain wrote that article but here's the things they DIDN'T check for the V1:

"Multi Step Dimming display": It's two step and AUTOMATIC!!

"Text Display": Reading while driving, oh that's a good distraction from the road!

"Digital signal strength": Compaired to a bar graph; 6 of 1 1/2 dozen of the other. It's the same information.

"Auto Mute": The V1 sorts out the BS from the real ones and THEN tells you about the real one swhen they get stronger but still in time for you to slow down.

"Driver Programmable Features": I guess they never read the manual. Yes, it is programable.

"X,K,Ka Band Defeat": Since that's what is used in my area so I couldn't care less. See the previous two above but this is subject to an individual's surroundings so it's neither good or bad for everyone.

"Tutorial Mode": I guess that proves these guys REALLY can't read an owners manual.

Congrats from the town that made it.

I can honestly say that I got mine by stopping in the factory and picking one up. It's just up the highway a few miles from me.

Want to know why the sites rate the V1 so poorly? did you know that Escort endorsed thoes tests??? its like BMW with Car and Driver.

V1 = the best, peroid.

Known fact, mail order small company items are always the best.

Example 1: Zaino
Example 2: A 2 year-old V1 STILL goes for $380 on eBay
Example 3: Valentine Research advertises in 2 places only. thats it.

Its proven by driver expierences and different conditions, the V1 just works better.

The escort is an AWESOME detector, and you cant go wrong either way, but dont think you made a mistake.

V1 OWNZ J00!!!!

dont say that...

the V1 may be a great detector, but it wont save you from instant on Ka, Laser, pacing, or just not paying attention.

I have the K40 Laser Defuser Pro as well to cover the laser problem, most of the cops out here use laser neway.

but i can still get nailed with instant on, or if im not watching!!!

Nick79: Hold on a second, Darkshear is right on, if you are put against an "instat on" or a "laser" and no other car is around I don't care how much it cost or how good is your radar detector, YOU ARE DONE. I have a Whistler and the thing even talks to me and when I got it I paid well over 200 dollars for it and still I am very carefull when I'm alone on the road. I don't want you to get a false sense of security here, you still have to be carefull. Great choice but be aware on the road.

Remember to keep the original box in case you want to send it back in for updates or repairs. Man those things are packed well.

i dont speed. i get "fake" tickets, usually from cops on campus or around this town because i got the best car in town i think.

the cops haress me afterwards. they make up tickets. so this way, i know they are there and i can be more cautious.

my last ticket was " failure to keep right" i was making a left to pull in my house".

hahaha, at least now my thingy might beep.
