Exclamation Upgrading 6 x 9 need suggestions

hey all, i own a 08 Acura TSX and I am upgrading the 6 x9's and what to know what brand people prefer out there!

I will be running an Orion Cobalt amp to them at 100 x 2rms.

These are the brands i have in mind?

1) aipne type S
2) kicker ks6930
3) alpine type R
4) Polk
5) Phoenix Gold

any suggestions on which brand you guys have experience with. I am leaning towards the Kicker's becuase of the Freq which hits low at 30k-22,000.

Any info would be appricated?

I've been very impressed with the Type S 6x9's that I put in my front doors of my 4runner, but I also am a Polk fan so I vote either of those

finally someone knows what thier talking about....

rear fill

upgrade your fronts, if you really want great sounding system then go active, that with some DIYMA speakers (brands like dayton, scanspeak, seas for example) and a sub in the rear will kill pretty much everything out there as far as sound quality goes and youd save a ton of money, just some food for thought. if you want to go passive (most common 2 and 3 way setup that comes with a crossover) then id go with something like focals K2P, or pioneer 720prs i believe is the model that gets rave reviews. DLS iridiums are also badass. there is more out there but those are a few that comes to mind

but like i said, its just some food for thought- id rip out and leave out the rear speakers, get a nice set of fronts and a single sub would do perfectly

cdt's and image dynamics are also both very popular front components that are great sounding. my vote for passive crossover components would be focal K2P.

I don't know if mb quart still makes 6x9's specifically as woofers. But they may still have a two way 6x9. Elduderino, who owns an audio shop and a tsx, recommends the mb quarts for rears, especially if you're going to amp them. He also recommended genesis brand 6x9's. Try searching for his name on the forum "elduderino." You'll find some of his recommendations for rear 6x9's that are somewhat high end. The kickers are a budget speaker compared to the mb quarts.

thaks for the info! I like the MB quart DKG169. There freq range is 35-32,000 the kicker ks6930 is 30-21,000.

The only thing i dont like about the mb quart is they are rated at 60rms vus the kicker at 100rms.

I plan on using an orion cobalt amp 100w x 2 rms to amp these speakers.

BellA. I got a set of MBquart RCE269 6x9's that were reccommended by Eldurino on here. They sound pretty good for sub duty if you dont plan on bumping super hard. You must amp these speakers. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm in complete agreement with those who are saying to forget about the rear speakers for your listening pleasure as a driver. Think about it this way....when you go to a live show....Is the music in front of you or behind you? (or even in your living room for that matter) If the music in the rear is for the kids or whatever, do you think they will be impressed or care that you upgraded the sound? Good sound is about image or imaging, if you prefer. Just look at all the custom A-pillar tweeter installs.....great imaging. Regarding preference, let your ears tell you what is good, not anyone else. Quality is good, but I've heard a lot of shi**y sounding expensive speakers. When buying it's always good to hear what a speaker sounds like in a car, not on a display rack. Ask the owner of whatever audio shop what he has in his car and if you can listen to his system.

I wouldn't worry about over-amping speakers. I would worry more about under-amping them. You prolly won't be pushing them to the limit anyway. Over-amping assures that you will be delivering clean sound at all volumes. If you aren't sold on this yet, just adjust the output on the amp. By a speaker because it sounds good, not for anyother reason (IMHO). Regarding the ratings on a sub being the same as on front separates, if that is what you meant here..........huh? why? (sorry if I misunderstood, maybe I didn't read it correctly)
