Two questions: Car alarm and Navigation

A good friend of mine has been installing car audio/alarms for around 10 years or so and is going to install an alarm on my car. He's got a spare Viper 771 with remote start and all that jazz. I know this takes quite a bit of time to do. Can anyone tell me how much I should offer to pay him for his time? I obviously want the total price to come out cheaper than if I'm buying everything in a store, but I want to give him a fair offer as well.

Suggestions?

I'm also in the market for navigation for my 2G TL. Does anyone have/recommend the Pioneer AVIC-N3. If so, is there a good place to buy this from online? The same guy doing the alarm can install this at the same time.

Thanks!

I know about how much the install would cost me at the store, but I'm trying to determine a reasonable amount to pay a friend to do it instead.

I'll check out etronics to see what I can find. I'm looking at the AVIC-Z1 right now.

Every area has different prices and install rates..

If you know the install cost, say $400, I'd give him $250-$300. I'd try to ask him first what he is looking to get out of it..
