TSX Stereo Install

I figured it was time to upgrade my speaker system.

Exploring my options there was a plug & play system that I could drop in but I felt it was a bit pricey for what I was getting.

Next I went to Movin On Sounds in Franklin Square only to find that my sales guy that always took care of me Matt, was no longer there. So I was forced...literally... to deal with I dont know his name (an older gentleman).
Well... he infuriated me to an extent beyond belief. I mean FURIOUS!!!! Not only did he blow a bunch of smoke up my ass...... He Dicked me around for 20 minutes & did exactly what I told him not to do, which is try to sell me something I dont want to buy from him. I told him i am not not sum prick off the street that says hey hook me up make my stereo sound better man.. I have done research & have my heart set on specific components. This guy told me that I should consider getting a sony XPlod amp & subwoofer. (((SMACK)))

My last resort was to spend time instead of money... I a lil research ordered some parts mail order & off Ebay & now Im pretty much ready to go. Since I cant get installation done from my favorite shop because I cant get past a Bullshit Sales person. I decided to do everything myself & If I fuck it up or got screwed with my amp or speakers I have nobody to blame but myself.

The Hardware:.....

Canal Street.
1. Polk DX 3065 6.5 Components I bought these years ago & never got the chance to install them. $195
Ebay
2. Infinity Kappa 692.7i 6x9's $125 shipped
3. Alpine MRV-F345 75x4 $269 ebay I Know I wised myself luck with that
Crutchfield.
4. Street Wires Amp installation kit $34.99 Crutchfield
5. Street Wires Zero Noise 3 4 channel Patch cables $59.99 (Ouch...fuct me in the ass & didn't have the common decency to give me a reach around)
6. 50 feet of Street wires Twisted 14 Gauge Speaker wire $.50 a ft $25
Movin On.
Metra 1 inch Spacers for 6.5 inch speakers.$8.00
Buy.com
7. SoundGate LOCPREA Line Output Converter $36.99 x2 +sh ($80)

Total: 'bout 8 Hundit!!!

polks

patch cables

Infinity "By Nynes"

I thought they was bullshytN when I saw this..."Magnet?" like.. WTF is that suppose to be But I confirmed with crutchfield thats what its supposed to look like.

X-over

AMP Power kit. Nothing special going on here...

BIG DOG ALPINE ...V12 MuH Fackas!!

This Speaker wire is no slouch

Street wires wasn't fckn around when they made this

I know what they said about the line output converter but, more people said use it than not to use it. So here it is, the SoundGate jumpoff I copped.

6x9's

Ok Snag #1 but I knew this would happen only three of the 4 screws line up with the holes in the car. So right now I have 3 screws securing the 6x9's into the car.
This is a TEMPORARY 3 day set up where I have the bi nines & the crossover to the factory wires. yes twisted with tape...Ghetto. I did this for two reasons one to make sure they worked because I bought them from e bay, & so I could ride to work with out hearing that popping noise.
Impressions...The factory speakers are louder & more abnoxious. The Kappas are more subtle & refined..the popping noise..Gone & thats without the amp.

Pics
My road Dog...well..cat. She stayed up with me all morning..well maybe not up!. I like this cat because shes a selfish lil creature who dont give a fcuk about anything or anybody else but whats going on with her. If im feeling down or bothered I just look at her because she doesnt let anything bother her.. Wish I could be more like that.

6:15 AM just stoped raining & still back winds from hurricaine Katrina...perfect time to install my by nines.

Come on you mutha....

Wait a minute these things are vertical not horizontal...Strange ..first time I seen that..

Thats not a screw ...fuuuuck!!!

WHOLLY TINY RATCHETS BATMAN!!!!!

You call yourself a speaker

I will most likely finish this project saturday night....
Most of the work will be done friday & saturday.
later today I will file & sand out the inside of the speaker spacers
because those components dont fit inside the spacers.
Ill post pics & hopefully somebody might be able to use this as a point of reference someday.

Remember from my Radar detector thread I have to shave the inside of the factory tweeter holes to fit those polk tweeters thats gonna suck. So maybe ill do that thursday before I go to work.

True!

Did you try loosening the 3 screws that are holding the 6x9's in real good, then try to put the 4th in. You shouldn't have any problems getting all 4 screws in. It's a standard size.

BTW-Looks good so far! Gotta love working in the rain.

Avincar supplies different screws with their 6x9s and says not to use the original screws. Mebbe it's because the fitting is too tight with the OEM screws?

OK Ill try that tomorrow meaning today but the threads dont match up...so ill keep my fingers crossed....I think that infinity crossover blocks out frequency's that the factory speakers tried to play (& failed miserably). The bass, its more ... Confident & smooth but doesnt hit hard..its weird its almost like the stock speakers tried to kill themselves & did on every low note. I remember when I took my car to acura & said I need new x9's in the back they keep popping ...they gave that shit back to me & basically said..."KID.. YOUR BLACK...So naturally ...you listen to hip hop if you want some real bass gets some real speakers"... well they didnt say that but thats what I heard. That was Valley Stream Acura If I would have gone to Rallye or smith town they might have said" I could replace them but they are going to do the same thing.

I might actually have to get a Sub.. FUCK I dont want a sub..I see how they sound after I run 75 WATTS UP THERE ASS.

Offcial impression: My only beef with the infinitys after one day of bumping them with the factory signal is they are not loud, dont hit low, they have impecable midrange, & whats best is no popping... But It feels like something is missing, however the butterey sound makes you feel good.

If you really bought some equipment on Canal Street, you probably have no warranty on those particular parts - 90% of those joints are non-authorized dealers.

Patch cables are ultra-important, you didn't get ripped on them.

Most 6x9 frames don't match up to the Honda exactly. In addition, there aren't many threads on the sheet metal for the factory screws, and they strip out easy, so I'd use different self-tapping screws.

It looks like the factory 6x9 has got some kind of jack instead of two wires coming out. How did you connect the stock cables to your Infinity?

Reagardless of if I had a waranty or not I bought those speakers in 2001 so the warranty would have expired anyway I tested them before they sound good.

Im so excited I swung out today with no problems & im off....

My first order of business is to correct this problem. The polks basket is a lil too wide for the snug fit of the ..."Metra (TM) speaker spacer I bought from Movin On Sounds(R)" Jus playin.... this thread is not a billboard...

But the bottom line is the Components dont fit in the hole.... So imma have ta pull a "KOBE BRYANT" & MAKE it fit GAT DAMMIT... whether they want 2 or not.

Sum Pics...

Everything fits as far as diameter...

Another :

But when you look at it from the side

If leave it like it is it will be crooked:

theres like a little part that doesnt fit in the hole...

Another:

I plan it cut it with a dremel & as you can see on the bottom that I can still screw into the door even in I cut it.

A pictire of the bottom. If it doesnt work out then I will most likely either cut the door or go out & buy another set of components.
As you cant see there is room to cut off the top because the final brace is on the bottom of the spacer..come to think of it its a lil thick.

In the meantime I need to find a pair of efficient rear door speakers that I can run off the factory amp.

Thanks for your support...

OK Today I didnt get much done because it took ten thousand years to cut those speaker spacers. The plastic melts when you cut it. Then dries up just as hard as it was before you cut it, only in the shape of a glob of goo. I ran the speaker wire for the front tweeters & ripped the front of the car out. & exposed the Wires I have to splice into for My LOC.

I should get alot done tommorow though
I have a crap load of pics & im sorry I will be more careful were I leave my playstation.

Hi, is it ok if i just stripped the stock cables and plug them straight to the speakers? What would you recommend to maximize sound quality without replacing the wires? thanks

Thats basically what I did I just did a sloppy job because it was temporary& the only reason its a temporary set up for me is because Im adding an amp they sound fine.

If you can can somebody please verify the colors of the + & - connections I am hooking the sound gate line output converter to the pre amp wires the small blue ones. I can tell i did someting wrong because some channels are louder than others I thin I hooked the positive wires to one channel up to the negative wire for another channel .. I used elduderinos post & something is wrong..

oh PS For when I finish I have a shyt load of pics...

OK I called crutchfield & re verified my splices. I thought I fucked them up but I didnt. eldude was right. So Everything works the speakers are great..Im honestly im little disappointed with the infinity kappas (I still miss my polk EX "x9's" in my 98 civic. real strong) But reagardless once I ran a couple of watts up there ass they sounded off like they had a pair..... The Polk DX components up front give me a HARD ON Words cant describe the sweetness of the hi's I think im going to search for a better 6x9 though...

Ill post pics when I put my car back together...

You can get adapters to plug into the stock harnesses to make the wiring job plug-n-play. If you can't find them at your local stereo stores, you can always mail-order.

Since the stock amp is not high power, it does matter which speaker you get. Some speakers will sound a lot better with more amplification, but might not sound their best with the stock system. So, you probably need to decide if you intend to add an amp.

See other threads for info. on systems for if you don't want the hassle of an amp! (Ex.: Avincar.)

Hi CJ! I am about to replace my front door speakers too. How deep are your speakers? Would a 72mm deep ( less than 3 inch) deep 6.5"'s fit? Here is the specs of the 6.5"s that I am looking forward for: http://www.focal-america.com/catalog...lass/165v2.htm

Thanks
