TSX Speakers

Im very happy with my new 07 TSX but I am very surprised at how WEAK the radio system is. I mean I can turn it all the way up to 40 and its not LOUD! I mean it may be loud to some people, but usually I can't turn a car sterio all the way up because of how loud it gets but you can in the TSX and it feels like it should be able go higher but it STOPS!! I wonder what Acura was thinking when they chose that system and why couldn't they have just put a Bose in it like the other cars?

my first question is how is the quality of the sound at 40? since yours is new, your drivers are likely still breaking in ...which won't take long at 40 levels.

Music volume at 40 is not the same for all sources. CDs themselves will vary, FM level is different than CD, XM is different than FM, and MP3 player is different than XM, and so on.

I feel that TSX speakers fall short of "Premium Sound" rated at 360w that is divide between 8 speakers. Search here and should see lots of upgrade options. I upgraded speakers and amp.
Still, I typically roll with my volume at 20 with the windows up.

XM is much weaker than other signals. 40 at CD should make the speakers distort, at least with some types of music. Definitely, the weak point of the system is the speakers. But if you really want it LOUD, yeah, get an amplifier and upgrade the speakers while you're at it.

Myself, I'm perfectly happy with my speaker replacement and the stock amp. Mostly with XM/MP3 do I feel a need for more volume, and that's pretty rare that 40 wouldn't be enough.

over 20 may even be enough to crack the speaker if you turn the base setting too high!!

It's, like, when you're playing it louder and louder, and then all of a sudden it sounds like crap. It's probably distorting. Distortion means the variation from the true, original signal. Once you reach the limits of the amp, you're in danger of damaging something.
