TSX-RCA wall jacks for IPOD install?

Everyone,

I am interested in putting the RCA wall jacks in my console for my IPOD. I went to Radio Shack and saw that they are Solder only. Are there ones where I would not have to solder. I would really like to not have to do this. If I do have to solder them should I solder them directly to the GLI cable or should I connect the another smaller cable to the GLI? I would appreciate some recommendations or pics. Thanks

I have seen some pictures that Schiaoll (sp) had done to his center console bin and would ideally like to have this setup. Did buy the female adapters at Radio Shack and solder them onto wire? Or did he adapt a wire with A/V female adapters to put into the console?

buy a wall plate with RCA jacks and unscrew them. drill holes into the TSX and then screw the RCA jacks into that hole (like the one in the wall plate)

let me know if you need a more detailed explanation. be careful where you place the RCA jacks so that your cupholder can still open and close.

Thanks TSXsurf. This weekend I went and got the wall plate (didn't see it the first day) and mounted them below the power outlet in the console. Looks awesome.

this is a requote for a thread i started a while back here..

Even though I do have a dension icelink to hook my ipod up to the car, I wanted to add an additional audio input capability to the car (i have a 3-way audio switcher that elduerdino found for me one day).

I was thinking why not just create a 3.5 mm jack straight up instead of wiring two rca jacks.

What I did here was attach a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug to the cigarette plastic piece of the center console. I then bought speaker wire and soldered the rca jacks and the 3.5 mm stereoe jack plug.

I just made a small hold in the plastic piece to put in the 3.5 mm stereo jack.

This way if i want to hook a laptop or another mp3 device, I just need a male to male 3.5 mm stereo cable. No need to bother with mini-y cables are taking apart the center console

That looks good. I might have considered doing it that way if I had seen it. I like that you used the power source plastic trim for a mount as well. I was a bit hesitant to drill through the actual console in case that if I ever wanted it to look stock again in the future I would have to replace the entire console. With the power source piece of plastic, if you want the car to appear stock in the future all you have to do is replace that one small piece.
