alternative aux-input with snhond3

I've noticed that a lot of people out there are wiring from their snhond3's an rca audio pair to their center console. And then when they hook it up to their ipod, they use a mini-y cable to connect it to the ipod (rca to 3.5 mm jack). Even though I do have a dension icelink to hook my ipod up to the car, I wanted to add an additional audio input capability to the car (i have a 3-way audio switcher that elduerdino found for me one day).

I was thinking why not just create a 3.5 mm jack straight up instead of wiring two rca jacks.

What I did here was attach a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug to the cigarette plastic piece of the center console. I then bought speaker wire and soldered the rca jacks and the 3.5 mm stereoe jack plug.

I just made a small hold in the plastic piece to put in the 3.5 mm stereo jack.

This way if i want to hook a laptop or another mp3 device, I just need a male to male 3.5 mm stereo cable. No need to bother with mini-y cables are taking apart the center console

Looks good man!! Someone else did something similar, but instead of having a headphone jack they put the red & white Rca terminals to the right of the Power outlet.

Your setup looks really clean though man!!

i mounted 2 RCA plugs underneath the power outlet, then just used a 3-ft RCA-to-1/8" plug to connect my PDA/MP3/whatever to it... I figured this would give me better flexibility than mounting a 1/8" jack instead, but I guess u could just as well use an RCA-to-1/8" cable instead...

honestly in my opinion, both are the same. I just figured I would never go rca-rca.

Which model of 3-way audio switcher did you use? Do you have a picture of it? It is small enough to hide it?
Thx

its the soundate aux3. And yea, its definetely small enough to hide. You can put it on top of the snhond3 (however i did take my stock amp out...).
