TSX - Question About Light in CD Storage Bin
Can you splice the wires leading to the bulb for power to a media player? It appears to be switched power... When I take that storage bin out, the light has 2 wires attached to it: 1 black/red ("hot" wire I assume), 1 black (ground I assume).
I'm asking because taking out the center console (shift gate/parking brake/cupholder area) in order to get to the cig light adapter lead in the "not an ashtray" bin has been a pain. This would seem to be a very simple alternative if it's possible.

Possible? Yes.
Workable? No. Not enough current, and probably goes through a dimmer. Just do it right, and don't use the ground in the cig lighter plug either, go to metal.
Besides, I thought that was only on with the parking light circuit.

thanks guys... yeah... i realized that shortly after i posted. i had my bin out, and it was getting dark, so i decided to reconnect the battery and worry about it on the weekend... that's when i noticed the light.
i guess i'll just splice into the wires in the kick panel --- i've taken off many different things on the interior of my car, but i can't seem to get the damn center console out. it's as if those clips were glued with loctite!

That center piece is a BITCH to get out the first time. It took two people pulling on mine to get it to move. I broke 3 of 8 clips in the process, and ended up just removing 1 more so its only held down by 4 (and in the 4 corners only) so it is easier to remove now.
