too much bass?

i have a stock deck running my sub... someone told me not to have my bass turned up to max in the stock deck because it might affect the RCA wires... so now i have it on 4+ bass... can someone tell me is this true?

I usually get the best sound with the stock deck, with everything being at zero. If you want to control the bass, I would do it from the amp. Does you amp have a remote bass knob? You can always buy one.

i don't know if its a remote bass knob... i have the Kenwood KAC629S and it has like a min max dial from min, 1.0, 0.5, 0.3, then max... i have the settin there on 0.3... what does the knob looks like and where can i add one if i don't have? i think that dial is the gain control...
