Is the TL system better than the Accord's?

My neighbor dropped in a RF 800Wx4 amp and two 15" Kicker S15L5 Solo Baric speakers in my car (pics in sig). They're hooked up to my stock head unit.

She says her bf's system hooked up to his stock head unit in a TL-S with a similar amp and a single 15" L7 speaker bumps louder and clearer than mine.

What's the deal? Is the TL-S head unit better/clearer than the Accord's or what's up with mine? She claims it's the place where I installed my system, but there's only one way to install it - using the hi/lo convertor and hooking the preouts to the amp!

you car looks WAY better with the wheels!!!

well, how did the tl guy hook it up? did he also use LOC? there are cheap ones and better quality ones. now if you had identical setups installed from the same shop, then you can determine if the headunits are in play. otherwise, it's hard to say.

Jon,
Very nice looking ride! I'd have to agree with stan about the install. If the exact same setup was done to each vehicle then you would have a baseline to work with. On my '02 TL-s I was able to get outstanding tunes only after I replaced all speakers, bypassed the factory EQ, and installed a decent amp to drive it all while keeping the factory HU.

If I were to guess........I would say the TL HU is no better or worse than Accord. Who knows?

Iggy

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep them coming.

What's LOC? My friend kinda solved this one halfway and told me that the TL comes with a 5 speaker system and one is for the sub. He also says that the TL has a stock amp too! I think how it's designed for use with a sub already in the vehicle is why it sounds better. But correct me if I'm/he's wrong.

LOC is line out convertor...the thingy you use to create rca outputs on a radio that does not have any to begin with. the tl does have 5 speakers...4 full range door speakers and one 9" sub in the rear deck. not sure how many watts power the door speakers, but the sub has a 100w amp. the tl also has a bose eq. i think it sounds decent but far from the custom stereo i had in my previous accord.

Oh okay, I get it. Thanks Stan. Yeah I guess I can make it out that the TL should pump better music than the Accord now because all the equipment is better and made for it. Thanks a lot guys.

And I don't think very many cars with custom stereos could have beaten your last system with four 10" subs in the trunk, custom floor speakers, tv, dvd, etc.
