Is there anyway to upgrade to TL gen to a navi?

Well my question is there a way to upgrade from a stock cd/ radio from the base TL model to one with a navi that is aftermarket? I was searching around and couldn't find the one with the adapter for the dash. If you do know let know. Looking it up for my dad.

I am confused about your question...

You want to keep the stock setup and have navi?

Or...

You want to swap the stock setup for an aftermarket navi?

I don't understand why you would need an adapter...

More than likely...if your TL didn't come with a navi setup originally your options are going to be limited to your available funds.

A complete replacement of the factory stereo would be more economical then replacing all those miscellaneous pieces.

Use the search field to get some ideas on what other have done with their TL's.

the way I get it, he wants an aftermarket HU with navi, and the adapter would either be a wiring harness or a dash kit.

It is a dask kit. Sorry about the confusion. I was in a rush. Basically my dad has a base TL 07 and it does not have a navi. He wants a navi. I told him to get a tomtom, and his like someone going break the window open to jack it. So I saw just get an aftermarket navi and put it in the dash with a dash kit. But so far i haven't found the dash kit with a double din. I found one but it doesn't replace the oem headunit. anyways I will keep looking.

O yeah and I for got to add that. yes he could have gotten a TL with a navi in the first place, but he choose the non-navi cuz it was 25k with 93miles on it at the dealership. So yeah....

You are the most confusing person I've ever met, you could confuse einstein.

Help me out NF3.

Pioneer makes a double din headunit, full navi, touchscreen, ipod interface etc. for about 800 bucks. well worth it, its very fast, has traffic updates, my brother has one.

but from reading your post, it looks like you want to keep your stock headunit and jam a navi in the dash so it cant be stolen? or have seperate cd player / navi systems??

/\ no, i think he is looking for a dash kit for a 3rd gen tl. i just did a quick search and didn't see any.

if u are worried about getting the tomtom stolen, they unclip from the window and hide in the glove box or armrest.

a aftermarket radio is just as much of a suspect to a thief as a tomtom, worth more actually so better to steal.

just tell you pops to hide the tomtom when he leaves the car...
