my subs do this now and i have no idea why, the first timeit happened i took it back to the installer and he switched amps and said it was a bad amp but it happened again and now they dont even work again i have no idea how to fix this or what causes this so if anyoen could give me a lil info on whats upwith my situation lemme know

Can you give us some more details.. You say it was misfiring and now assuming a couple days later it just stopped working..?

from what you described, it seems that it could be a couple of possible problems: the negative cable is either the same size as the 12v cable or smaller(it should always be thicker than the 12v cable), the ground cable is mounted too far from the amp(the ground cable should be grounded within 6" from the amp), the subwoofer coil is overheating due to a non-stable load from the amp(i don't think that this would be your situation because kicker doesn't use liquid cooled voice coils and kicker can handle 2-ohm loads very well.

well if he was using 0 awg power cable.. i would be tough for him to use a size bigger for the ground :P

most likely the ground point is not clean or the bolt is loose.

the ground should be 3 feet or less, i dont think size of the wire really makes a difference. I mean of course you should not use 18 gauge wire for a ground. but that is just common sense. just need to make sure the ground is secure/and the metal is exposed and not painted over. from what the problem sounds like, really doesnt sound like a ground. bad ground = no workie work, or play/stop/play/stop

you are right maybe the way the amp is bridged it's handling an OHM load that is "clipping" the amp, always possible.

:0 why bash? it's all good, i'm just spreading a rule that i learned in my 12-volt electronics class and found to be correct. perfect example: look at your battery terminal which cable is fatter? + or - ?

Your groud should always be the same size as your power wire.
