Sub box volume

I have 2 JL W3's and i want to make a custom box for my trunk. Only thing is the Volume FT3 is going to be more that the subs allow. How much will this affect the sound of the subs? Will they damage the speakers?

Why don't you make it smaller? You could always put something in there to take up space, like an extra layer of MDF.

True but i'm lazy. I don't want to do more work than i have to. I just want to know if it's going to make a big difference or not.

Yes it will, how much depends on how big it is. I would go with the size recommended by jl. If the box it is too big the subs will not hit the frequencies you want them to hit.

Yeah it'll make a difference...the sub will reproduce somewhat lower frequencies than it's supposed to, and not be as responsive (the main problem). I've never heard of anyone who has a problem with a box too big
