stereo and speakers

I test drove the TSX and I was blown away by how great the stereo sounded. the bass was REALLY GOOD and i am used to a JL 10 in my car.

?....how well are these speakers holding up to loud volume

do the speakers distort at very high volumes?

what are your thoughts on the stereo overall>?

how hard is it to replace the 6x9's in the back.......i might just get a pair of MIDBASS 6x9's and use them only for the bass cause the highs and mids sounded pretty good

Are you on drugs? The sound is muffled and horrible. The bass at high volumes falls apart in bong-bong-bong shreeks. Overall, the audio in the TSX sucks.

Only the HU is nice, though I have NAVI.

The rear deck is easy to replace, but the speakers have to be slim in depth to fit. The OEM amp has crossovers which vary in frequency.

Many people have found replacing the front 6 1/2" door speakers and the rear 6"x9"s
w/ Apline's Type S greatly increases the quality of the sound.

but the 6x9's act as a SUBWOOFER meaning they have a low pass cross which would cut out all midrange and highs.....so putting in a full range 6x9 wont work.

hit me up with some knowledge

True that the Alpine Type S 6x9 are full range speakers. They are rated down to 35Hz. If you can pick up a pair for $70 or so then its still a fairly inexpensive upgrade. The rear deck speakers are corssed over at 120Hz (someone correct me if this is wrong) so only the main cone will do any work but that's still a better speaker than the stock 6x9.

I think the R's are a little too deep to be mounted in the doors. 6x9's obviously have no mounting depth issues.

if you want more bass, simply add an amp and some subs and you should be happy. when i did that i was pretty impressed but i was determined to get an even better sounding system so i ended up replacing the stock amp, stock front door speakers/tweeters and the rear 6x9s.

i found that if you add an amp and some subs that you can basically just get rid of those rear 6x9s because all they are for is to create a sort of subwoofer effect anyways. with them removed you have two gigantic ports for the bass from your trunk to flow into the cabin with.

unless you wire the 6x9s to share the signal of the rear doors which is what i did. after adding my sub i noticed that without the 6x9s plugged in the bass drowned out everything else, so i wired my 6x9s mid-range or whatever the rears are and they sound awesome. now you can sit in the backseat and hear ALL of the music, not just the bump bump.

I have had a sub and amp and box in my trunk for years now.......i'm tired of that extra weight and lack of cargo space.

i want the BEST system i can get with NO MORE BOXES in my trunk.

ideally i would like to just put in new 6x9's that would sound GREAT and leave everything else alone

has anyone just done that.....what are your thoughts?

Maybe 2 of these..

http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/6w0.html
http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/6_8W0_MAN.pdf

would fit in the rear desk, net vol needed is only .175 cu

And a small amp..

(no I'm not a fan of 6x9s)

Or if you wanna give up foot space, you can do something in the kicks...

if you dont have navi, you could put an amp under the rear deck with a mount were the navi dvd would go...someone on here did it and it doesnt take any room from the trunk

Ya i know that.......but its the fact that i have to run a power wire up to the battery and then feed it through the car......i just want PLUG AND PLAY mods that do not require running wires and stuff.

that was cool in my 94 olds and 03 civic.........but a near $30k car....i think i'll leave it the way it is. no taking doors off ....no running wires under carpet.

just looking to drop in some sweet 6x9's that will add the RAP AND HIP HOP bass that I am used to (distortion free, loud and clear).

Ok, well in that case, I don't know what to suggest. I'm kind of an audiophile and "sweet 6x9s" is not my thing. I doubt there's any 6x9 that can come close to the same sound as a subwoofer.

And the factory amp is not going to push any "real" subwoofers..

If you don't want to hear people's opinions, you came to the wrong place.

To find a 6x9 that fits in the back, you'll have to search the threads and see who's used what and how they like it.

I agree that the stock sound system starts to distort for bass-heavy music at fairly moderate volume levels. But as long as you don't need a "booming" system, it gets the job done pretty well.

I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for in one of those threads.

Yeah, and I want to be king of the world.

Distortion free.
Loud.
Six-by-nines.

Pick any two.

Look, you will not acheive those objectives without upgrading the amp.
