Stereo Problem, Please Help!!
This is my first post on these forums, so please bear with me. I searched for advice on how to install a stereo and amp on these forums, with some great directions. Today I just installed an Infinity Basslink (works just fine), and a Sony CDX-M610 Head Unit (pulled from my old integra and used to work fine). I just turned it on, and the radio works perfectly as does the Basslink. Now I inserted a CD, and only the bass comes out from the Infinity Basslink and nothing from the stock Acura speakers. Does anyone know what may be the problem? I didn't bypass the Bose amp by the way and I have a 98 3.0 CL with the Bose System.
Welcome!
so when you listen to the radio, sound comes from all the channels? but when u put a CD in, only the Basslink works? Did you use a wiring harness? Im not to familiar w/the system in the 98CL's. My guess is that it could be the headunit or loosly connected wiring.

Correct, when I listen to the radio, sound comes from all the channels, and when I put a CD in, only the basslink works. I used a wiring harness and am assuming it is connected properly since everything works fine with the radio on and I pulled the harness from my old Integra which has the same connections as the 3.0 CL. I've done some searching around and found someone that had the same problem:
Mizzle: Ok, got the problem fixed, only thing now, is that when the radio is on, I have sound. When I try to play a cd, I get no sound. Anyone have this happen?
Bill: Sounds like you used the power ant. lead to turn on the amp (ie. system on when the radio is on but not for cds) , try using the amp turn on lead instead.
What does this mean? I hooked up the REM connector from the Basslink to the AMP REM connector on my Headunit, so I don't know if that is the problem or not.

Everything works fine except for this... your amp needs a constant power signal. If the remote turn on lead for your amp is hooked up to the power antenna, that power is cut when you switch from AM/FM to CD, which then shuts the amp off.
Are you sure the harness is the same?
I just double checked, the AMP REM connector is hooked up to the Basslink, and the ANT REM is hooked up to the antenna that is inside the glass on the rear windshield, still of course the same problem, sound with Radio; but no sound with CD and Basslink working..

Well it would work, but it would sound like ass. Bose runs at a different impedence than any aftermarket speakers. So if you try to run Bose speakers off an aftermarket deck, you will get distortion and it sounds terrible. I just tried that a couple weeks ago on my cl, I had to completely redo the system.
I would either find the amp turn on, or replace the speakers and bypass the amp.

I greatly appreciate your help and sorry once again for another stupid question. To get power to the Bose Amp , should I take the A6 wire (http://public.fotki.com/dustbuster4/...headunit2.html) which powers the Bose Amp and connect it along with the Basslink REM line to the headunit AMP REM connector? This would leave the ANT REM wire hanging, but I'm assuming the Bose Amp powers the antenna.
Well you don't have a power antenna, so yeah the ANT REM doesn't do anything.
But what you said sounds right, if that A6 wire is the turn on lead. I'm not completely familiar with this system though... if you wait for Elduderino to check this out he can give much better advice than I can.
