I need speaks for my 04 TSX with NAv. What speakers would sound good with the JL e2150 amp, 75 x 2. Either components or coaxials. I don't want to break the bank either, just looking to replace the fronts. I like warmth and solid mid bass.

 

A budget would be good. : )

DLS makes a few series, a/d/s as well. I have DLS 6"/tweet kits starting at $190/pr... the a/d/s/ 6"/tweet would be nice too.

 

I was thinking about 150 for a set. How "warm" are the DLS's?

 

The DLS with the soft tweeter that plays low are very mellow in the upper mid/lower treble.

When a tweeter has a low resonant frequency it can often play lower without strain (just like a woofer). At $150 it would be hard to come up with a set of separates that have a tweeter that plays low - I don't know any off of the top of my head.

I have some European-made soft-dome coaxials that might fit that price, but I have to go in today and check the xover cost, because with 75w of power, you don't want to use a simple capacitor as a tweeter xover without restriciting the tweeter only to ultra-high notes. You would have an upper midrange dip in response.

But those DLS at $190 sound much better. I wrap the tweeer in grille cloth for a factory look btw...
