I did a search on door speaker sizes but all the posts were confusing as hell!!! some said 5.25, some said 6.5 might fit, some said 6.5 with spacers... what size speakers will fit perfectly with no mods? I want 6.5 but if they need mods then forget it.

also, which is a better setup?
1. components in front and rear with two 8" solo-barics L7
2. components in front, mids in rear, and one 12" solo-baric L7

i doubt anything will fit without mods. i guess go for the 5.25 if you want to be safe

id say components in the front,
coaxials in the rear (components built together),
as many subs as you want in the trunk

 

5 1/4 will fit fine with no modification to the doors.

even with 5.25 u will have to custom make the spacers. that is u make the spacer out of wood. it is not too much hassle but i dunno about the 6.5's. im about to install the 6.5's in my front.

Hey AzNTL... let me know how everything goes with the 6.5's up front. if it works out, I'll put 6.5 up front and 5.25 in the rear. also if you did do mods then let me know exactly what you did. thanx

 

i would suggest u get 6" for the back instead of 5.25. either ways ur gonna need to make ur own spacers because the BOSE speakers are not circular. They are in a way diamond shape. so get 6" they're better than 5.25. i will let u know when i put my 6.5's in. they come with Tweeter and crossovers as well but i dont think im gonna b doing it for a while b/c im workin on my PS2 setup

i just went to places like Home Depot and bought some wood that has the right diameter and depth of the speakers. you cut out rings for them and mount it on the door panel and drill holes for the speakers itself because the stock holes will NOT match up correctly.
