For comps go with Boston Acoustic, Focal, Kicker or Diamond Audio. Actually, you have a lot of choices. You should narow it down to a price range first.

^ only buy the MB Quartz Q-series, everything else is mediocre..

Avic-N1 is not as great of a buy as everyone seems to like it, too limited and too much complication for a navi+dvd, but a good deal since they go for cheap now

MB Quarts 6 and a half inch components for the fronts. You can get the same for the rears, or a 6 and a half inch two way or three way. And either one 12W7 from JL or 2 10W7. If cost is a problem, you can go with some of the cheaper JL's.
And definately look into getting good amps.

my system...the Focals make a slim series in their polyglass line, and they fit in our doors w/o even a spacer. so that makes instalation very easy and they rock with 100watts/ speaker RMS.

Depends on what you want to spend.....

For mids and Highs:
High $$$ = Focal
Mid $$$ = JL XR or XR

Subwoofer = JL W7 series for sure....my 1 10" sounded like 2 12"s!

For components, Jl seems to have a great midbass but the clarity isnt the best. (its good but not the best. IMO, i would go with Boston Acoustics Components up front, then some mid-quality (to save money) on the rears. When I change my stereo out in the Cl I would want to concentrate on a better front sound staging.
