So how does the W7 sound?

is it all hype or is it really that good? I'm thinking of changing my 2 12w3s for a 12w7. I have enough amp power but would it really be worth it. I've been noticing that most of you guys are opting for the 10w7 rather than the 12w7. Why?

The 10W7 is all you need.....500 watts to it will rattle your brains!! I was gonna buy the 13W7 and the 1000/1, but I decided to save the $400 and I'm really happy with what I have!!!

the thing is that if you check this chart

i dont know if you can see it or not but the 10w7 "danger zone" is at 1000w and my amp rms is 1000w. i was thinkin 12w7 to be safe with the watts. and i was thinkin of gettin it in this JL enclosure to save some trunk space too.

this is the description of the enclosure off the site

"For those who seek the ultimate in sub-bass fidelity, we now offer four ProWedge™ systems featuring W7 subwoofers. The power of the W7 is harnessed within a compact, sealed enclosure to deliver world-class sub-bass fidelity. These systems have it all: extension, impact, detail and smooth response... at any listening level."

There are a lot of people giving the sub 1000w. Just watch your gains and be careful. Any weird noises, distortion, bring your gains down. I've heard Nicky Pass's W7 ported, and it utterly KILLED my 2 Maxes with over 1000w a piece. I haven't heard it sealed, but I wil let you know when I get mine.

The 2 12" he2 will kill the JL 10W7, so why bother spending more if you dont have too? PLus the He2 will drop lower and will be louder. Dont be unsensible, the 10W7 is the right way to go when planning a system from the start and adjusting to budget and likkeability. Now that you have had the pleasure of 2 12" subs, the single 10 W7 wan match the decibels, but not the drop. So unless you need more trunk space or something, stick with your plan!

This...coming from Mr. JL Audio..... I love my 10W7....as for performance...Spiroh sold his 2 IDMAXs to get 2 10W7s because he heard my 1 10W7.....what does that tell you!

Is it worth it to get w6's over w3's?

I don't want something that hits as hard as a w7 :p

LOL-NIckyPass. I just hate to see someone go riduculous on JL W7 if they are already happy with what they have and can upgrade it for a certain amount and not have to change much about their set-up. Plus, how boring would it be if EVERYONE had a 10W7 like the others. Be original and the sound come close, but the sest-up might look hotter and get more looks.
